Same problem here. I just posted a thread about it in the support forum over there.

Yes, I am a (GASP!) free user. Oh, the horror! But that's not why I'm feeling bad... I'm feeling bad because the new site sucks, plain and simple. And I'm obviously not alone in my opinion. But if it works for you, then that's great. I'm just glad we have different options for all the varying opinions out there.

Personally, I will never pay for something if there is something else just as good or even better that is free. Hence my move to DVD Spot.

Should DVDAf improve once all is up and running, I'm keeping my account active there too just in case. But considering what I've seen in the last year, it probably won't.

Too true. And I'd never pay for a DVD tracker either, as I have a fairly small collection (around 250) so its not worth any cash to me.

ok i was wondering if anyone was successful importing their list over to dvdspot? is there an easier way to do it then just by adding one after another because i have over 1000 dvd's and i don't want to sit here for 3 days importing my entire collection.

I, like many others, am not a fan of the new dvdaf, but have not had the time to try out DVDSpot yet. In the meantime, I am just going to wait and see if dvdaf improves or not. However, I cannot seem to find how to try and submit a new title to the dvdaf datatbase. Anyone help?

Thanks....

Croy has added a feature to DVDSpot now that allows you to:

* Hide Purchase Date, Price, and Source from the dvd info page
* Hide Purchase Date from your Owned list
* Hide Total Price from your Frontpage

American Wedding and 21 Grams are located in their customized positions when viewed via that link. If you click in the '#, A-Z' links instead, they will still be located under their title rather than custom sort title though.[/url]
Ah, cool. Thanks for clearing this up!

seems like there's a lot of recommendations for dvdspot. i'll check it out because the new dvdaf is lame with the 50 limit per page. the rest is fine for me. it's just gonna suck that i might need to add in over 500+ dvds into it, lol...

Yep, he took care of that for me damn fast.

That is how you run a free site and make people want to list their collections there.

dvdspot question,

can the the comments be seen on your listing page like dvdaf lets you do or do you have to click on an individual title to see your comments?

Agreed. Think I'll go ahead and make the switch to DVDSpot.

I just migrated my collection to DVDSpot and I'm pretty content I had to submit some 30 new DVDs, but it's kinda fun actually, and the contributing engine is handy.

Only listed on the individual title page.

With the way the interface is and the amount of info listed, not sure it could be at all aesthetically pleasing and intuitive in the title list view.

Careful. It can be very addicting.

Since it was suggested as an alternative in this thread I've been to the site every day tweaking and changing and submitting and adjusting...

I hope you are using the quick fill method, when available. Can save a lot of time.

I'll be migrating somewhere soon. I hadn't been to DVDaf since the update and I must say I'm disappointed. I wish we could just keep the OG format.

FYI, DVDSpot just made an update so you can change how the title is sorted. The Custom Sort field is listed under the filter section.
You guys do this two days after I drop money on a license for a shareware program?

Now I have to reevaluate which I'll use, again!

It is nice to see DVD spot get that functionality.

I just signed up for DVD Spot yesterday. I used the text file import and it worked pretty well. Now I just have to get some Region 2 titles added to their database.

There is a whole forum dedicated to 2.0 and for members to make suggestions as to changes they would like to see in 2.0. This should not have been a surprise to anyone. I had no problems migrating my collection to 2.0. Judging from threads that I have read, at least 90% of the people having problems are having a problem because they think they are putting their correct email address, but in fact, they forgot what email they used originally. Looking at the number of people who complained about the "500" title limit on folders, these are people just using the service for free. Free is a very good price for a service that lets you add as many DVD's as you want as long as you put them in seperate folders and keep those folders to 500. I have been paying $20 a year since I joined and can have up to 2000 DVD's in a folder, the most I have is over 700 in my Horror folder. 2.0 has some great new features, one-page mode with larger pictures(if you donate), better search functions and I can edit DVD info a lot faster now. I am sure that there will need to be some tweaking done to the program, but overall I am impressed with the changes.
2.0 wouldn't be so bad if they just made sure all the features they intend to showcase on the new site actually were ready to go and be used. I mean you still can't add a new dvd to the database. I would think that would be one of the first and more important features. Your right about the change and how it shouldn't have surprised anyone considering it's been in the works for years, but it does surprise me why they still have so many problems and there are things that are still not fixed. I have a feeling 2.0 will never be brought up to par. Which is truly a shame because I loved how easy and smooth the first dvdaf was. It just seems like the staff have bitten off more then they can chew. They seem overwhelmed by the amount of work in front of them, whether it's from the site or there personal life, I don't know. That's just my opinion from what I read in there help forums.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but I love the fact that DVDSpot now allows you to "show all" of your DVDs with pictures instead of just 100.

Thanks, it helps when I'm just browsing mine (and other peoples).
