It's never cheesy and the violence is still as impactful as it ever was. It's one of my favorite films of all time.

Just dont watch 2 or 3 and the above quotes ^ apply

Hey now Robocop 2 does have some finer moments to it.Robocop Vs Robocop2 battles are pretty cool, and the old man gets his lovin on in this one.
|
Ok fine :) It does have its moments.
But three should never be seen except for when he has the jetpack on but even then...its near uwe boll bad |

I'd love to see an Unrated RoboCop 2 if such material exists Are those Robocop Prime Directives Movies worth getting? |
If you can get them for a couple of bucks. The makers clearly loved the Robocop franchise, but at the same same tried to crowbar it their other loves, like John Woo and Westerns. Works now and again, although the guy playing RoboCop is clearly too small in stature. Robo looks tiny in some scenes. Soundtrack is also not the best score wise.

And yes, Robocop is a sci-fi classic; I remember fondly the days when sci-fi films still could be intelligent, satirical, and also kick-ass (see also: Terminator). Nowadays, sf is none of these things. Sad. In any case, easily Verhoeven's best American film. |

its still as violent as it was 20 years ago, plus the added 3-4 minutes or so too the movie make it even more bloody/violent.
this one has definatley stood the test of time. plus its in my top 10:) |
^ number 2 is only good for the violence. (the begining seen was priceless) part 3 just plain sucked the only kool part i liked in it was: SPOILERS
the guy getting his legs burned by the jetpack |
Frank, the proper way to present spoilers is to put the text in between spoiler tags, like so:
[ spoiler ]Remove the spaces in these tags to hide the text.[ /spoiler ] |

There is no reason to watch 3.
Ever. Not even a jetpack could save that movie from both sucking and blowing at the same time. |
I bought the trilogy but if the pic has been remastered, I am going for this.
|
I would like some reviews of picture quality, etc... Didn't they screw it up in previous releases?
|
I'm only on board when a full transfer review is done
|
Me too
|
Generic positive Robocop / steelbook / dts / remaster purchase comment. :D:up:
|
I find it really odd that even though this comes out a week from today, there is still no listing for it on Best Buy (Canada) or Future Shop's website.
|
Somebody on the Criterion forums has done a brief review. Sounds like MGM has finally done right by this film.

Looks like I am double dipping. Maybe even considering selling my Criterion DVD.
|
Awesome. This release keeps sounding better and better.

Hopefully I'm wrong about this. |

Hmmmmm cant decide. I love Robo, but have the trilogy set (even had the original snapper set also) but DTS would be nice. Hmmmmm

are both the theatrical and DC cuts remastered and both have DTS? either way, mine is already enroute with "Serenity" (CE) and will be here before the weekend. can't wait!! |
i cant wait to buy this dvd next week....
|
When I get this next week I'll do a comparison between this and the Trilogy set. Nice to hear that this is finally being remastered!
|
Any idea with prices at the B&M's? I see the Best Buy thread does not list one.
|
Glad to see MGM finally came through with a decent release for Sgt. Murphy
Quick question - So if I sell off my Trilogy set and pick up the Steelbook + stand alone copy Robocop 2, I won't be losing anything? |

I picked it up today at a Wal Mart. (Whitby, Ontario for $14.83 Canadian dollars)
A WEEK early, too. Glad to see that the Canadian bilingual garbage label is only an add-on paper label and not part of the steelbook case. EDIT: THEY ROYALLY SCREWED UP! Both discs are EXACTLY THE SAME, even though they have different labels! Both are disc 1 of the set...Stupid canadian-made crap! |
