Intervocative was down for a bit for some server maintenance.

This really burns me. I never pay for software but I've been using Profiler for years and with 3.0 being basically crippled without paying I decided to up and pay for it. Don't know what to do and if I can even get a refund at this point a month or so after paying.

It's very disappointing it hasn't been worked out yet. No matter what side is right or wrong, customers who updated got screwed. I would think it would be in the best interests of all parties to try and keep things working for the customers, but I guess not. I am itching up on the "Screw Em" point.

So is 2.4 running updates yet? I haven't been able to get new updates for a few weeks now.

Do you have the upgraded Movie Collectorz? Is it at least close to Profiler 3.0 quality? I am thinking of making the jump.

I have Pro Version 4.11. It's a great program. They just released 5.0, but I haven't upgraded to it.

Good to hear. I was just poking around and see that they have a trial program. Maybe I will download it and see how it goes. I've heard nothing but good about them, so I hope they impress me. I am not down with waiting around for this drama to sort itself out if there are other good alternatives for my personal database.

Why is it disappointing exactly? I am not trying to defend the company (though I like their product a lot) but they have not exactly caved in, ran away with someone's money. There has been communication and clearly legal issues are being worked on. Surely, it would be perfect if all was done in 24 hours but even if one isn't familiar with the ins and outs of the business this should and will take more than a few days.

A very quick look at the Intervocative forum reveals that no one has lost money. Surely there is a reason for you to feel upset (I am as well) but there is no reason to be negative in a way partially implying that both sides are scammers.

Profiler is a great program and the least we could do (that will include everyone that used the program for free in the past) is be a bit more patient.

I don't think they are scammers and didn't mean to imply that they were. I paid for this product years ago and it always worked just fine. I can walk away right now and I clearly got my money's worth.

However, having 3.0 down this long after its big arrival on the scene and literally hours upon hours spent getting it just perfect is quite disappointing. I have used them for years, but the current state of affairs with 3.0 is just ridiculous to me so I am examining my options. It's a big marketplace and I didn't marry them or anything. If they can't meet my needs, I am free to see other people.

That is understood and agreed with!!

What I have a hard time agreeing with is this...

for those interested in reading the plaintiff's (ie IVS) complaint you can click this link to a 75 page PDF containing the documents filed by IVS in this suit. The TRO is the first portion of the pdf.

Is there any other DVD database software out there where you can design your own custom skins or layouts for how the profiles are shown?

I have Movie Collector and Profiler. I have exported my Profiler database into XML format. I'm trying to import the Profiler database into my Movie Collector program, but nothing is happening. Any MC owners know what the problem is?

Hmmm, I have the new version of MC, and I imported my database last night with no real hassles. A quick look around the forum shows that they had some troubles with the script changing with 3.0s updates, but I am not sure. Maybe that version of 3.0 wasn't supported by the old version?

I am loving the software right now.

so what exactly is going on? i can't upgrade to 3.0, but 2.4 will not have anymore updates ever, either?

is there a profile system that is easy to migrate my entire collection over to with just a couple clicks that looks spiffy?

Any people who own 3.0 know programming? I want to show off my custom covers on my DVDProfiler page when people click on the movie. Is there a way to add this?
Also, when checking out the movie collector layout page I really dug the one that looks like a dvd shelf. Is there a way to translate that and make it work for dvdprofiler?

I don't think so and I don't know programming either. The online display for DVD Profiler has been woefully neglected and has not changed since the program came out as far as I know. The are some other programs out there that will convert your database to a form displayable online but you have to use your own website. php DVD Profiler is one such program. Maybe it would allow you to use custom covers. I have not used it myself. Right now, I'd settle for DVD Profiler 3.0 working.

EDIT: By neglected, I mean lack of ability to customize appearance and it won't do boxsets in a collapsable format either.

I don't know - I've got 2.4 and just added Spidey 2.1 to my collection without a problem.

It's sort of a pain in the ass and I don't know if it's been mentioned earlier, but what I've been doing is adding new titles to 2.4 and then backing up that database. Then I go into 3.0, click on restore database, and select the profiles that I want to add to my 3.0 collection. All the personal information and whatnot gets transferred over.

I think he means updates because I can't get any updates neither, as well as some new releases. I am looking for the same answers if 2.4 will ever be updating again.
