To make things easier I've arranged all the "performance" LD's (concerts, stand-up specials, music video collections, etc.) by the name of the performer. So instead of "An Evening with Robin Williams" it's now "Robin Williams: An Evening with Robin Williams". That way all the Madonna stuff and other multiple entries will all be grouped together for easy reference.

The Motels
Sheena Easton -Telephone
Sheena Easton - A Private Heaven
Elton John - The Video Singles (Japan)
Amy Grant - Find a Way
Paul McCartney - Rupert and the Frog Song (which contains "The Oriental Nightfish" which is not found on Disney's release of his animation shorts)
My favorite 8" laserdisc release: Image Entertainment Laserdisc Catalogue Spring 1992. I remember thinking that this was so cool when it came out. Does anyone have the Sears catalogue that was released on LD?
Concert discs I'd like to see on DVD:
Paul McCartney "Rock Show"
Stevie Nicks in Concert (not "live at red rock")
A Hot Summer Night with Donna Summer
Belinda Live (not "runaway live")
And does anyone else remember the CD singles that would include a LD video on them? I have one for Madonna (Papa Don't Preach) and one for McCartney (Once Upon a Long Ago...).

I'll have a look at my LD list later...

Good Thread. I only have:
The Criterion Edition of CEOTTK that contains both versions of...
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1980 Special Edition)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977 Theatrical Cut)
But I do have quite a few titles that aren't on your list. I will look and see what I have that isn't out yet.

There are a BIG pdf file here http://www.laserdiscregister.com/ with over 3000 titles not on DVD. But not, it is missing many that have been released on R2/R4 and all the japanese LD's not on DVD are not on it. So I would guess that there are still at least 2500-3000 titles on LD not on DVD

One item we'll never see again is "Hollywood: The Pioneers," a 13-hour look at the silent beginnings of movies with interviews from people who aren't around to give interviews any more. I've been watching this two hours a weekend, and the editing (by Kevin Brownlow) and music (by Carl Davis) never ceases to amaze and amuse me. I spent a small fortune (well, $330) on this set, and I'll never sell it.

A laserdisc I bought in spite of having the film was Broken Blossoms. The difference (and it's a *big* difference) is that the LD has the Carl Davis score, which accurately follows the score Griffith himself wrote for the picture. The DVD's score doesn't compare. This is one LD with a big advantage over its DVD cousin.

I think Deadtime Stories is on one of those 50-movie sets, the quality probably isn't too great though. For a lot of minor studio B-movies, the DVDs look like they're taken straight from a laserdisc or VHS tape so you're usually better off getting the laserdisc.

Ken Russell's 'The Boyfriend' was released by MGM.
Image released Pasolini's 'The Decameron' (released onto DVD by MGM), 'Canterbury Tales' and 'Arabian Nights' - the latter two are not available on DVD - who owns the rights to these... MGM?
