Well, I caved, bid on one of the SAG discs, and won. And it came today.

Great picture, great audio (but not as full as in the theater), and ok menu design.

Seantn 02-01-07 09:24 PM

How much did you pay to get it early?

ReduxGuy 02-01-07 09:54 PM

31 bucks, but for The Departed, it's worth every penny.

X marks the spot in The Departed.... http://miamiherald.typepad.com/reeli...s_the_spo.html

Can anyone tell me if they know for sure it this steel case comes with the 1 disc or 2 disc versions of the movie?

I just got my screener in the mail, so I should have a review up by Sunday afternoon or so. The movie looks and sounds great, but some of the bonus features on Disc 2 seem a bit thrown-together. Oddly evenough, the deleted scenes aren't even separated by chapter (and like the other widescreen extras, they're non-amamorphic).

Can you confirm whether or not Scorsese on Scorsese is on the disc?

If it really was the SAG disc, then it was the 1 disc edition. So you paid 31 bucks just to have the 1 disc edition 2 weeks in advance, but you could have bought the 2 disc edition for 23 dollars on release day?

ReduxGuy 02-04-07 01:30 AM

I'm an impatient person. It's a flaw.

Seantn 02-04-07 01:31 AM

Heh, no problem bud. We all have our imperfections. :)

Seantn 02-04-07 01:31 AM

Plus , it's a great movie, so I can't say I blame you.

If you click the link, it indicates on the webpage that the Future Shop Steelbook version is the one disc version. I'll confirm when I buy the movie on release day.

animatedude 02-04-07 10:14 AM

bestbuy exclusive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think it's definitly going to be the same of the futureshop exclusive.

Willh51 02-04-07 11:03 AM

If that is the two disc, it is SOLD! That would be so sweet.

Drexl 02-04-07 11:18 AM

The attitudes that people have about these limited edition packagings cause me to feel assured that downloads aren't going to overtake physical media any time soon.

The No Man 02-04-07 01:05 PM

hmm... this is gonna be a tough decision on where to buy it from. At Target you get the 2 discs and a script, and at Best Buy you get the special case. I'm gonna have to wait to actually see a pic of the Best Buy version and know if it's 2 disc or not before I decide.

Mr. Cinema 02-04-07 01:25 PM

They don't even list the 2-disc set on the website, so the steelbook may actually contain that one.

The No Man 02-04-07 01:41 PM

that is a good point mr. cinema and I hope you are right. speedy said he'd have the best buy deals up tomorrow.

Drexl 02-04-07 01:46 PM

It has to be the single-disc. Do you really think they would just charge $3 more for the extra disc AND the steel case and postcards?

The No Man 02-04-07 02:17 PM

well maybe on release week the single discs will be on sale, and the ltd steel case will remain the same price. Just trying to find excuses...hope it is the two disc.

DarthMarino 02-04-07 02:22 PM

Wow, if that's the one disc that creates a very tough dilemma. The case is awesome and I might even prefer that to what appears to be a pretty lean set of special features. I guess 100% confirmation on the "Scorsese on Scorsese" documentary could help.

The Valeyard 02-04-07 03:29 PM

The Target exclusive also has "bonus content" beyond the script book. Don't know what that means exactly.

The DVDTALK review just up confirms that Scorsese on Scorsese is on the disc.

Rizor 02-04-07 06:02 PM

Wow. The steel book thing is looking pretty nice.
