Yes. Grabbed Eyes Wide Shut out of the $5.50 bin at WalMart......but Kubrick's movies are a whole other thread!

It might be like it is at my local WalMart, and they don't sell any of the FS versions so they drop the price, while the WS does sell so the price remains. I was looking at the display of $8 DVDs or so, and I got to looking, 'fullscreen, fullscreen, fullscreen, fullscreen, etc.'.

roger_d, this type of post is completely unacceptable. The forum does not allow personal attacks, and this is clearly over the line. Additional comments like this will result in administrative action against your account.

Fixed.

I have exactly one MAR disc in my collection, the old Total Movie bundled release of omaha (the movie). It's a shame, too, because the master that director Mirvish provided them was letterboxed. At least it was "free," so to speak.

Never. I received a full screen copy of Minority Report for a gift a few years ago. I didn't realize it until after I opened it. I threw it in the trash, waited a year for it to go on sale cheap, and bought the widescreen version. There are a *couple* of full-screen discs in my collection because there was/is no widescreen available. But 99% of the time, if full-screen is the only thing available, I wait. I waited five years for Ace Ventura, even though it is one of my favorite movies. I think the steak/dog shit is a perfect analogy.

Off topic, but have they started releasing "fullscreen" titles in 16:9 yet? Like titles that have an OAR of 2.35:1?

I wonder if this is a trend that will start.
yeah, i am not talking about movies that are only in Full Screen like CBML which i have as well as a few others, i meant actually buy over the WS as a conscious choice.

really? i see it is only $10.00 now at Target and it is very tempting, but i think the big thing is, i didn't really enjoy the movie that much. it was merely ok. i don't think i would ever buy a movie i really enjoyed in FS just because it was significantly lower than the WS. at least that is how i am justifying it...mostly.

Yeah, I figured that....but I did only buy them because they were cheap as well as being the only format available.

Nope, I only have because it's the only format the movie was in (Transformers and G.I. Joe the Movie - have since replaced the TF with the new WS one).

I do, but only if it's a dvd that I have no interest in or a blind buy. If I happen to really enjoy that movie I'll write it down on a list and pick up the WS in 1-2 years.

I bought FS Last Action Hero because it was cheap and I couldnt find the WS version. I regret so much since it does that pan and scan crap which makes it virtually unwatchable. I dont put it in my collection as it is in my basement. Then later, I found out the other version has both full and widescreen so it makes me wonder why they even made that FS only version.

I picked up a used copy of Honeymoon in Vegas FF. Basically because it is not available in WS and I really like the flying Elvis's

i took the Target ad on BlackFriday to Wallyworld and picked up the WS version of Wedding Crashers and handed it to the cashier and asked them for a procematch from Target's ad. They gave it with no problem and didn't notice or care that it was only the FS that was onsale at Target.

One time I bought fullscreen and it sent me into a coma for two days.
Never again.

NO. NEVER. EVER.
Man, I don't know why Roger_D freaked out and found this so offensive... I laughed so hard I nearly choked on my soda.

That said, other than OAR and questionables like Kubrick, the only FS DVD's I have in my entire collection are "Creature" and "Nemesis," two awesome/terrible sci-fi movies that are't available in WS and most likely never will be. Availablity is my only reason for choosing FS, never the price.

Yes, I have only 1.33:1 version of Evil Dead. I would not pay 1$ for the over matte widescreen version of that one.
