This is really a bad process. Called today (Sunday) and waited 45-minutes--thank God for speaker phone- with no answer. They're probably closed but no message stating that so who knows? Definitely very frustrating and I don't think I'll buy a set with issues like this again.

I called Friday and my set is still in the mail from Amazon already. Luckily the girl I spoke with only asked me for my name/address and which set I purchased. She didn't ask for UPC.

I received the mail back envelope on 12/20/06 and mailed back the disc(s) the next day will see how long it takes for the return package..

On another note while the offer does say it can take up to 12 weeks has anybody gotten their check cashed or received the posters from the mail in offer yet?

My Amazon order: On Dec. 29 I got my corrected set, but the tin set came damaged with dvds rattaling inside. I called Amazon and they said I could put the other set I had not shipped back to them yet and make one set and ship one back. They said they have had complaints about certain areas that do there shipping. The Dec. 29 came with no packing bubble. Lucky for me the STM & S3 were not damaged.

The Tin is being re-released (corrected, of course) on May 29th:

Burbank, Calif., April 2, 2007 -- When Warner Home Video’s (WHV) The Superman Ultimate Collector’s Edition (Superman UCE) was released last November, consumer receptivity was completely unprecedented, resulting in WHV selling its total supply of collections in one month. The Superman UCE was lauded by the nation’s critics and made many top ten lists, year-end round-ups and magazine gift guide suggestions. The title also won top honors as Catalog DVD of the Year at the Digital Entertainment Group’s Creative Excellence Awards.

Now on May 29, The Superman Ultimate Collector’s Edition will again be available by popular demand, in a limited edition, at $99.92 SRP.

The re-released Superman UCE will include the corrected discs for Superman III and Superman: The Movie, which were missing bonus content upon their release last fall. When the inadvertent omission was discovered, replacement discs were made available to initial UCE buyers. Replacement discs from the first release of the UCE can still be obtained, at no cost to the consumer, by calling 800-553-6937.

The Superman Ultimate Collector’s Edition includes all six films in the Superman theatrical franchise – SUPERMAN RETURNS Special Edition, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, Superman: The Movie Four Disc Special Edition, Superman II Two Disc Special Edition, Superman III & IV Deluxe Editions -- and is loaded with more than 20 hours of bonus features. Three bonus discs include Look Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman and exclusive to the collection, You Will Believe: The Cinematic Saga of Superman, a feature length documentary, plus Bryan Singer’s video journals chronicling the making of Superman Returns.

The 14-disc set will be packaged in a collectible keepsake tin and holds the set within lenticular packaging, along with a reproduction of the comic book Superman issue #7 and a Superman overview booklet. Consumers can also send in a mail-in offer for five limited edition Superman theatrical movie posters through March 2008.

Glad to see it's resurfacing as a corrected edition - hopefully with a different UPC to help avoid any confusion.

Re: Warner's Statement on Superman Ultimate Mess Up

I got a defective copy and I live overseas. Yes, I just got it today. Cdwow sent it, and I doubt they can really help, but I thought I might ask Warner first, but I live overseas. Anyone get a replacement disc overseas? That's my main concern.

Re: Warner's Statement on Superman Ultimate Mess Up

I live in Australia, and they sent me the replacement discs (back when the set first came out). They had my address quite badly wrong, but it amazingly still found its way to me!

Re: Warner's Statement on Superman Ultimate Mess Up

So I got the replacement discs of disc 1 and 8, but now I have a bigger problem.

Disc 3, doesn't play at all on my Pioneer DVD player. It can't load, and I get a message, "Can't Play Disc". I've never seen that error before on my DVD player.

The disc itself plays on my Toshiba laptop, but during the restored scenes, it occassionally starts to freeze. Anyone else had this problem or is it just me?

Re: Warner's Statement on Superman Ultimate Mess Up

And I keep finding screwups....

Disc 12, "Look Up In The Sky!" Does not play at all either....

Either on my Pioneer DVD player or my Bluray player, both Disc 3 and Disc 12 get "No Disc". As for on my Laptop, no problems playing them it seems, except for what i mentioned a while back...

Am I the only one on this? It really seems so. And yes, I have been savoring watching the boxset with time apart each disc, that's why these posts are like a year apart....

Perhaps try carefully cleaning any dust and fingerprints off those discs; I've run into that before.
I'm waiting for Superman Ultimate set on Blu-ray.

There's not a scratch, not a print. Clean discs, just don't play on 2 of my machines at all.

Re: Warner's Statement on Superman Ultimate Mess Up

Hello all. I purchased this set the day it was released in 2006, and it was only in reading this site's review that I learned there were issues with the set. I've had a fun time reading the various threads, and for a lark, I tried calling the hotline to get replacement discs.

It's now a phone sex line.

Sad to see that the discs have rotted for many, that was a problem with the manufacturer Warner was using then.

I'll just say it was great when screw-ups would be loudly called out with subject lines like this. Now it's almost like you have to apologize for noticing any errors.

Re: Warner's Statement on Superman Ultimate Mess Up

I've kept my discs in in a large binder along with all my other DVDs--I long ago threw away all the cases, boxes, tins, etc. for most of my collection. I regret that of course, and have been tracking down and purchasing on eBay certain items such as this Superman set. I'll be interested to see if the tin I ordered has the original discs, or the corrected versions.

As for the rot, I haven't experienced that yet, although my Superman III disc refuses to play past a certain point when using VLC player, so perhaps...

And yes, the culture has changed, and it's shame. Corporations are the powers-that-be, and you'll take what they give you and shut up.

Now that's a good bump of an old thread by a new member.
