Just caught this on amazon's message board for the ultimate supes set:
"Amazon just mailed and said --Rest assured you will receive the original, new and defect free item
of "Superman Ultimate Collector's Edition"--
Im delighted. Nothing like watchin Supes on dvd over the holidays...bring it on!!!"
Of course this could be total hogwash, who knows.
But I take it as a good sign.
I think.

Update:
We've got a few more Superman disc replacement notes today as well. First, Canadian readers are reporting that they're able to use WHV's 800 number, so if you're north of the border that should be good news. Second, a number of retailers have apparently pulled the 14-disc Superman box set from their shelves and are waiting for updated sets, presumably to avoid having to deal with lots of complaints and returns. Other retailers are already sold out of their initial shipments. So if you're having a hard time finding it, that's why. New sets should start arriving in 2-3 weeks. In addition, a couple of U.K. readers who pre-ordered the R1 sets via Amazon have reported receiving e-mails from Amazon telling them to expect their sets to ship in early-to-mid December... and they're supposedly going to be the corrected sets. So that's another bit of good news for at least some of you international readers.

So, what the fuck? I called more than 48 hours ago and haven't heard back, yet people who call now get their addresses taken and told they'll be sent envelopes to send back the discs. Fucking WB.

Amazon now has the statement on the SUperman UE page, and it says it'll be in stock Dec. 8. If anyone ordered from them, looks like they'll be getting the replaced versions in and sending out, so you can request to exchange your set that way.

I'm just waiting until after the New Year to get mine replaced. I am in no hurry and would rather make the process quick and easy than worrying about it right now.

Call 'em back.
I had the exact same experience (only asked for my name & phone number) on Tuesday and never got a call back. Called them this morning, was asked for my address this time and was told I'd be receiving envelopes.
I don't think those calls where we were just asked for our names and phone number counted for much.

I just got off the phone with them and the operator took my name, address, and number and said they would be sending a pre-paid envelope out in 7-10 days and I would then send in the defective discs. 2-3 weeks later I would receive the corrected discs.
So much for the honor system.

If you called once and just left your name and phone number, I also recommend calling again.
Sounds like that's the only way you can leave your ADDRESS as well to get the pre-paid envelope to send the discs back.
Face it - they're not calling you back. There's too many customers to do so.

Yeah, I called from work without the set in front of me, so I didn't have the UPC code and have to call back with the code. What's another 20 minutes, eh?

I've yet to pick up the set, but will be going the Amazon.com route. I canceled my preorder when I heard about the missing content (also, my wallet was hammered by other recent sales, so I took this opportunity to wait it out a bit).
Good to hear there is an exchange and that retailers will have corrected copies available to sell soon.

FYI, I actually received a call back today!
I called on Tuesday and left my name and phone number. Then, I called again on Thursday and they took my address and said that they would be sending the envelope.
Today, the phone rang and I gave them my info again. This way, I can be sure that they got my address correct and I double my chances of actually getting the envelope.

Good God! I've tried calling 3 times already, and each time, they've had me on hold for far longer than I had time for.
They need to set up a web-site for this exchange, stat!
(kinda like how Fox did the Simpsons packaging thing)
It would be much easier for both parties.

Am just about to order this from Amazon. Hopefully its true that they are shipping the corrected sets although i'm sure I never would have spotted the mistakes (since i'd choose the 5.1 over the 2.0 and probably wont get to see supes III again in my lifetime
