Hopefully the older editions will be dumped in favor of the new sets and those discs will be easier to find.
I only need 3 Bond movies to complete my Bond collection and i'm not going to blow $90 so i can get a set that includes movies i do not want or need. |

same here, lol...

Where are you? Why do you hide?
Where is that moonlight trail that leads to your side? Just like the Moonraker goes ... |
Moonraker is one of the few that I really want in better condition, though the current disc isn't anywhere near as bad as some of the others. Otoh, I've never been that enchanted with Goldfinger, but that disc is one that could/will probably see the most improvment.
If I can get the first two sets from DDD during a sale, I'll probably spring for 'em and sell off the ones I don't want for peanuts. I don't think anyone will pay more than $3 or $4 for A View To A Kill or Octopussy or Man With The Golden Gun- or the Brosnan ones. But every little bit helps, and the titles I do want to own sorely need replacing with better quality discs. on the plus side, I recently got $28 for the old SE of FRWL, and almost $20 for Thunderball, and the two Dalton ones netted me $20. So thats one set subsidized at least. |
Hey Paul SD-
I'm kind of the same mind set with you when it comes to upgrading my Bond collection. There are some I would definitely want and others not really. If your interested maybe we could trade or purchase the ones either of us do not want. If your interested e-mail me [email protected] Rob |
No problem with their sales strategy for me. I want 'em ALL, even though that means I'll be replacing my most extensive collection :)
|
I also like Moonraker, it has this epic scope to it.
|
Take me around the world, one more time.
|
OH, well, yes- if you can get HIM........
|
So they've chosen to do sets again for sure? NO SALE.

The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day? Are these sets punishments? Do FOX/MGM really hate the consumer this much? I certainly wont be buying these. |
Looks like slimpacks

Nice looking sets, but I wish they'd at least put the films in chronological order.
|
I was originally quite upset that the US isn't getting the attache case. However, the price of the US sets pleases me. The best price I've seen for the UK attache case is around 200 pounds (about $360 US). The 4 US sets should cost around $200-$230 if purchased wisely, which makes the attache case worth about $130.
I'd rather have just the 20 films and save the $130 for other DVDs! And the boxes for the US set look pretty nice (and are hopefully solidly constructed), although they currently have the film names on the spine, which will be slightly annoying to people like me who will buy all 4 sets and rearrange the films in chronological order. |

Either way, with these lame groupings in 4 sets, i'll probably end up getting the UK case after I get motivated to sell my current special edition sets (probably just post them in the exchange here, seems easier than other options). It costs 175 pounds (not 200+ since there's no VAT charged). |

Thankfully they left Grace Jones off the cover. I think the real punishment is the fact they won't bother to release the movies seperatly. I'm not going to buy "View to a Kill" just so i can have "Thunderball". |

Anchor Bay's release of the Titus series is pretty floaterific (as many discovered during a recent DDD sale), but, other than that, I've never had a problem with double-disc slims.

On second thought, I don't know if I will be picking any of these up this fall.
I've been looking forward to them, but it sticks in my craw the way these are being bundled. And I just had another thought- when Casino Royale hits dvd in April or May, they're probably going to do either some kind of tie-in promotion with the sets, so there may be better discounts then, or they will begin releasing the titles individually for sale. And if that doesn't pan out, there is still the inevitability of the High Def releases on at least one of the formats (though I'm thinking they may hold these off for the next film after CR and make that the big video tie-in push). Either way these sets are only the latest word and not the last word. I should have enough else to keep me busy in the mean time. |
