Thanks to our retail sources, We now have a street date for MGM Home Entertainment's 007 remasters.

Look for James Bond: The Ultimate Collection Vol. 1 (with two-disc sets of "Diamonds Are Forever," "Goldfinger," "The Living Daylights," "The Man With The Golden Gun" and "The World Is Not Enough") and James Bond: The Ultimate Collection Vol. 2 (with "Die Another Day," "License To Kill," "The Spy Who Loved Me," "Thunderball" and "A View To A Kill") on November 7th.

Retail is $89.98 each.

Stay tuned for disc specs (which should be identical to the R2 versions) and news on the other volumes soon.

roger_d 08-17-06 02:48 PM

I was under the impression we were going to get them all at once, rather than in Volumes. :(

Doughboy 08-17-06 02:49 PM

They better be available separately.

I hope they're not 100% identical. I'd like burned-in subs and the original mono tracks included.

canaryfarmer 08-17-06 02:51 PM

R1 is supposed to have burned-in subs.

ShagMan 08-17-06 03:03 PM

no big box set? no Bond in HD? That makes me a sad sad person :(

Mr. Cinema 08-17-06 03:07 PM

These would be on Blu-Ray and with the way the quality has been on that format, I think it's a good thing these don't debut on it. At least until Sony puts forth a better effort for picture quality.

I'm down for both sets.

paulringodaman 08-17-06 03:13 PM

cannnnnnnnnnnnnnot wait for this!!! merry christmas, daman!!!!!!

GIjon213 08-17-06 03:14 PM

Due to the lack of production date continuity, I would assume that the remaining 2 sets (there are 11 in these two, leaving 10 remaining to be released. Not counting, of course, that one bastard child called, "Never Say Never Again") would be five each with the 4th set having the 21st Bond film, i.e., Casino Royale.

matome 08-17-06 03:20 PM

Just needed the first few Connery's but I'll wait for Blu-Ray now.

Patrick Mirza 08-17-06 03:24 PM

I would assume that they will be available separately as well...

John*D 08-17-06 03:28 PM

I just want the Dalton's...

PGHFlyer 08-17-06 03:42 PM

I was hoping for one big box like the other Region, so the staggering approach is kind of annoying..........

majorjoe23 08-17-06 03:46 PM

Why don't they group these by actors, or at least chronologically? I would buy a Connery set or a Brosnan set.

Damed 08-17-06 03:50 PM

Son of a...

Guess I have to order out-of-region afterall.

stingermck 08-17-06 04:05 PM

Well these sets really suck. Id much rather have a huge box, or a set in chronological order.

Had the original sets, but them and eBay helped finance my Plasma.

DeanoBKN 08-17-06 04:12 PM

Why can't they release this in order?

FRwL 08-17-06 04:53 PM

I already got them when i was in the UK, just the first 3 all i wanted, best dvd picture quality i've seen. 5/5

I'd give the extras a 3/5, the behind-the-scenes filming which is what i wanted most was embarrasingly pathetic, there wasn't as much in these first films at least (it undoubtedly increased with their popularity) but they still only showed short bursts of what they had, selfish pricks, or greedy and are holding off that material for HD mutli dips. For example this in contrast to 38's The Adventures of Robin Hood SE which had an entire section devoted to nothig but behind-the-scenes filming (in color), without stupid cuts, while there's narration to boot.

Also i must have seen the same tv spots/trailers like 5 times in going through the extras once, padding out their docs and then watching it in the promotional section too. There's a whole section called Mission Control where you can go to Gadgets, Villains, Friends, etc. and it just takes you to the scene, shoddy pass for an extra. However Maud Adams narrates the shooting locations like a travelogue so that's the only worth for that section.

Cameron 08-17-06 05:10 PM

where is my suitcase...

tofferman 08-17-06 05:17 PM

Now I'm wondering if I should sell my James Bond Collection volumes. I'm not sure what to think about this announcement as of now; at least until more information is available.

fryinpan1 08-17-06 05:51 PM

I wanted one nice set with all the movies.

because like in the vhs days...connery sells alot...moore sells alot....everyone else is left on the shelf...this forces you to pay premium for all of them.

Living Dead 08-17-06 07:33 PM

I would have rather had these in order too. Assuming they're in keepcases, if anyone wants a big box to hold them all, do a google search for Paul Champagne's website. His customs are awesome.

Sean O'Hara 08-17-06 11:30 PM

Then do it by decade -- the 60s would include Connery and Lazenby, the 70s would be all Moore (maybe one Connery), the 80s would be mostly Moore with the two Daltons, and the 90s could include all the Brosnan films (and I'm betting Brosnan would sell at least as well as Moore).

Nice :D

basaro 08-18-06 01:45 AM

4 different "Ultimate" collections that all contradict each other? -screwy-

I'll wait for these to be released individually or in a nicely priced huge set. Or wait for HD. I've waited so fucking long already, I can wait some more. Damn.

I also thought I read that the R2 versions weren't all that spectacular, is that true? I'm really just concerned about picture and audio quality on these. Extras are always cool, but they definitely come second.

wm lopez 08-18-06 02:10 AM

I'll wait for reviews on these dvds.

ruk 08-18-06 05:30 AM

From http://www.mi6.co.uk/sections/articl...ons.php3?t=&s=

The USA release has been split in to two phases. Phase 1 will comprise of two box sets, each containing five films. James Bond: The Ultimate Collection Vol. 1 will include two-disc sets of "Diamonds Are Forever," "Goldfinger," "The Living Daylights," "The Man With The Golden Gun" and "The World Is Not Enough". James Bond: The Ultimate Collection Vol. 2 will include "Die Another Day," "License To Kill," "The Spy Who Loved Me," "Thunderball" and "A View To A Kill". Volumes 1 & 2 will be released on 7th November 2006 and will retail for $89.98 each. Phase 2 of the release, which will include the remaining ten films in another two volumes, is expected in May 2007 to coincide with the release of "Casino Royale" on DVD.

mzupeman2 08-18-06 05:48 AM

I don't think I'll be buying these. I'll wait for an eventual release of one large box set. Even if it doesn't happen for DVD, there's always HD-DVD...

M Polo 08-18-06 07:00 AM

I didn't buy the original box sets and I've been kicking myself in the ass ever since. Now the box sets go for crazy money and the individual releases are the same. I'd like one BIG box set but I'll be jumping on these for sure.

Palpadious 08-18-06 08:05 AM

This is terrible news. Why not release them all at once, and why make most of the films in phase 1 the weaker in the series? I may juts get the attache case.

Reservoir 08-18-06 08:17 AM

Mind if buying the attaché case Amazon.co.uk (.com, .ca etc login) will take the tax off -(17.5%) if you get it shipped to USA or Canada (or outside the EU).

Reviews of the new UK Ultimate additions here

yeldarb367 08-18-06 11:02 AM

I'm undecided as of now. Thanks for the info though.

FRwL 08-18-06 02:46 PM

The US release is so lame, they really want to squeeze every penny that they can get the human stains, it was lame when they wanted to tie in with the CR release, but now random films in collections, and the 2nd half on the dvd release? Disgusting.

islandclaws 08-18-06 02:52 PM

I can live with buying half now and half later. I already own all of the previous SE's, so upgrading a few now isn't so bad, especially since I know when the other half is tentatively due. As long as I get HD mastered transfers and DTS I'll be happy. All the extras are just icing on the cake.

The Escapist 08-18-06 02:55 PM

Y'know, I've had the three boxed sets for years now, and I'm still only up to THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, because it takes so long to watch and listen to everything on the already plenty-loaded discs. With everything else I have around that I haven't watched yet, I just can't get excited about still another re-re-rerelease of the Bond series. I'll pass, thanks.

But I will definitely get the DVD of the upcoming CASINO ROYALE. Unless they package it with seven other films...

joliom 08-18-06 04:09 PM

Are the OOP SE's still going for insane money on eBay/Half/Amazon? I gave my Dad my copies of the first 5 and was planning to give him the rest when I buy these new editions. But if I can get $30+ for each of them maybe I'll just sell them all and finance the double-dips.

LoPan5705 08-18-06 04:50 PM

Hmmmmmm I'm also undecided about these sets. Like some of the other posts, I would like one complete packaged set of dvd's (attaché case). It took me three years to accumulate all the current oop dvd sets. I'll have to wait and hear more details before I decide what to do.

If they had released them by actor, I would've gone for Connery and Dalton sets (already have all of Brosnan's), but with this I'll just wait for the eventual high-definition releases.

The U.K. attaché is fancy, but I hate a few of the covers (Die Another Day in particular) despite their eye-pleasing uniformity.

15-30 for most of them...its time to sell when the new movie hits...especially for those not re-released until april/may....sell now and get the new set
