I have to get around to tracking down a good region free player. I'm tired of not getting these great sets. Screw the "it won't fit on my shelf correctly" wusses!

Well, Ridley Scott did mention the special packaging in a recent interview (including the tidbit that Harrison Ford did contribute to the new documentaries) so maybe we'll get this one here in R1.

Damn. If they offered that suitcase in R1, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Hear that, Warners?

That set looks nice and all, but I'm still not a fan of overlapping discs in a case.

I don't think the suitcase is that cool, or practical. I'd prefer a more normal-sized box, maybe with brushed metal or something.

Yeah I'm kinda hoping Warner pulls a Ultimate Matrix Collection and has one with collectible briefcase packaging and one in standard boxset packaging.

Gimmicky packaging is lame-ass. 1) impractical; 2) jacks the price up putting out of reach for non-collector/fetish types. Blade Runner is one my favorite films of all goddamned time, but I care about the content not a stupid briefcase. I would put the discs in their cases on my shelf and throw the thing in a closet. Oh wow, sign me up.

Says you.

But i'm a fair person. I wouldn't object to WB putting out 2 different versions - one for collector/fetish types and one for you.

I've already posted this in the HD thread but I will post it here again. In this month's Total Film there is an interview with Ridley. Here is what he said aabout the Blade Runner SE:
"It's finished. A five-disc set in a Deckard briefcase comes out this autumn. It's a state-of-the-art digital print, which we haven't really had for about 15 years. It'll probably be shown at the Venice film festival"
I doubt he is talking just about a R4 case.
In regards to Joanna Cassidy doing re-shoots, Ridley said they filmed her in front of greenscreen to put her face of the stuntgirls' when she gets "retired

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that there will be non-case versions coming out.

Any thoughts on what the regular, non briefcase version, of this might cost? Someone on that link guessed $75- that still seems kind of pricey to me. But I don't know, maybe that's about right. What do folks here think it wil cost when it's released?

I would guess in the $45-$50 range with in-store discounts.

Thanks Tom. That's kind of what I was hoping for.

At least that's the price point I'm hoping for too

It's a 5-disc set but it's still the same movie, just different versions.

Damn, I don't care what special features it has, I can't see spending that kind of money on a single movie (regardless of the number of versions included).

This is one of my all time favorite movies and I want to get the most complete package (DVD wise, I could care less about the brief case. Just give me a nice steel book and I'll be fine) but I will not spend more than $30 for it.

If the 4 or 5 disc set sells for $40 to $50. I may have to pass. Too bad, too. I hope they put out some elaborate "briefcase" set for those of you obsesive types with unlimited funds, but give the same content in a simpler case to those of us who love the movie, but are on a budget.

R4 or R1 I don't care. WHERE can this be ordered? I realize it is 3 months away, but I want the set, briefcase or not.

I hear ya Dave. Hopefully they'll come up with something similar to what Universal did with E.T.. both an elaborate boxset and a basic set.

Or couldn't you pull someone over for illegal tinted windows and tell 'em they can pay the fine of.... say $40... in cash and it won't get put on their record. I'm just kidding... (sorta)

I for one love the briefcase and I usually avoid elaborate sets when I can cos I know I have no space for them. But I wouldn't be ab;e to resist that case.
