Please help me for an MBA study [updated please answer the second survey as well]

Hey all,

I'm currently pursuing an MBA in marketing and for my consumer behavior class I have been given the assignment of researching any compulsive purchasing obsessions. What better topic to pick than DVDs! Please take 5 minutes of your time to participate in the survey.

Your results will greatly appreciated!!!

Here is the link to the survey:

Thanks again everybody!

Attention!!!

I made a second survey...after you finish the first one, please take this one too.

Thanks again!!!

Interesting stuff, will you be able to post your findings when you're done?

I took it.

I do wonder how you'll be able to determine "compulsive" habits from those questions. Collection size and number of times shopping for DVDs doesn't (IMO) equate to compulsive buying.

Nonetheless, you'll likely have some interesting data that I am sure a distributor would love to get their grubby mits on.

I took your survey. Considering who you are dealing with at this forum, the collection size options should be extended -- "1000 or more" is pretty limiting.

ps.- the link to your DVDProfiler collection in your signature is locked.

There was a part of order of importance (for reasons of buying) I would have given low scores to all the possibilites but that was not possible.

I minor gripe about question 13:

13

Which of the following aspect ratios of a movie do you prefer to buy?

Widescreen

Fullscreen

Whichever one is available (don’t really care)
It really should be whether you buy DVD's that are released in their their OAR. There also might be something about anamorphic releases. For example, I will only buy DVD's that are OAR and "enhanced for widescreen televisions" (if applicable)

WOW!! You guys really came through even better than I had hoped. I already have almost 70 responses and it's not even been like 4 hours since I started it. I really appreciate it and hope I can make some sense out of the data. I would like to make note that I probably should have gotten outside opinions before I finalized it, as I didn't even catch those issues regarding complications such as the aspect ratio and unrated questions. However, I still managed to get the basic jist that you guys prefer the real stuff rather than incorrect ratios. This site was recommended to me by a fellow MBAer since it has a lot of great features in its free version, however, it unfortunately only allows you to perform cross tabulations in the paid version. Guess that means I'm gonna be up pretty late tonight making sense of the data via excel input.

By the way, BMAG, I never even realized that and when I get home tonight I'll be sure to update my DVD Profiler.

Once again, thanks a lot you guys!
