Superman Returns is only the starters. Donner's cut is the main course, dessert and the dance.

Those quotes about the Donner cut could not be more cool. I'm almost more excited about it now than I am Superman Returns.
I realize this is not yet finalized, but what if it proves to be true? Check out:

Note the information about the 14th disc.

This is f*ing kick ass. Its great my 3 year old so into superman and he hasnt seen any of the film( I have been waiting for this box set ) I cant wait to take him to sup returns. I even thought about getting the flieschman cartoons but I am glad I have waited since my son will enjoy that more than the movies since its a cartoon.
my question is, does anyne know how much of a loan I have to ask for from the bank to cover the cost of the set.

This is one huge-ass set! Puts the Alien Quadrilogy to shame as far as number of discs is concerned. I just hope it's not a huge digipak like the Quadrilogy is.

I can't remember anymore, does the theatrical cut have the "can you read my mind" part? That, to me, was the only bad moment in the film, but I can't remember if it's a DC addition or not.

Ironically, I remember this portion of the film being widely praised when it came out. (And was the song nominated for an oscar? I think so...)
I think that the 'tone poem' or whatever is just awkward, and the scene would play so much better with just the music.

From the info on the big box set
"Superman documentary; Look, Up in the Sky! disc 14
Bryan Singer commissioned documentary on the history of the character."
I certainly want this. I'm debating on buying it on the 20th or waiting to see if it really is in the box set. It will be less than $10 at Amazon with free shipping (if I can dig up another $15+ of items to buy). Not a lot of money but I just hate to buy the same thing twice.

True, but I thought I heard that the broadcast wouldn't be all of what will be on the DVD. Of course that means I would just have to watch the show on the DVD in November again. Gee, what pain!
I will have to set aside quite a few nights in November for the set. Sure would be nice if the release date of the box set were before the next DDD 20% off sale.

Think I understand this now. Look, Up in the Sky probably will be part of the 14-disc set in November, but is being released separately now, as will each of the movies at the same time as that set.
According to The Digital Bits, Best Buy will have an exclusive 2-disc version of Look, Up in the Sky. Different artwork, slip cover, and features some of Bryan Singer's weblogs from BlueTights.net. (Bill Hunt says all of the weblogs should be available on the Superman Returns DVD.) Included are postcards of the poster art from all four Christopher Reeve films and the newest.
Think I will be passing on this. If all the weblogs appear on the Returns DVD, I have no reason to get this. I'm sure the documentary will be great, but I don't need two copies. And the poster art isn't particularly important to me. That's a few bucks I can save.

The Max Fleischer cartoons are definately going to be in the Ultimate Superman Box Set. Just wait til then. These are going to be remastered from the ORIGINAL negatives. Bound to look better than even the Diamond Edition from Bosko (and those look pretty good).

Oh man, this is like finding the Holy Grail to me. I NEVER thought I'd see the Donner cut of II, and I NEVER thought I'd see Superboy coming to DVD.
I'm even stoked about the SEs of III and IV, which I've always loved despite their many flaws.
I think I may cry.

You know Gerard Christopher sold his seasons of Superboy on his site for a few years. He bought the rights at some point. I believe the DVDs sold for over a $100 a season if I recall correctly. I can't imagine he sold too many at that price. I checked his site just now and they are no longer available so I assume he sold the rights back to WB and they plan to release his seasons as well.

If we can get a Donner recut of SII, anything is possible. I've lost count of the number of things I now have in my collection that 10 years ago I would have sworn would 'never happen'.
I'm really, really excited about this set, probably more than anything that's come out in the past few years. To get the original theatrical Superman (with original audio), a new cut of II, extras galore for all the films -- including the previously ignored II-IV, Superman Returns, and other goodies. Amazing.
I'm darn curious about the packaging now. Hopefully something cool, but relatively compact.
