The Amazon deal for the 2 disc BB is indeed a great deal, but they also now sweeten that deal (IMHO) by offering a combo pre-order package with Revenge of the Sith for $32 total.
Link (scroll down a bit)
That gets you to the free shipping territory and since RoTS is due to ship on Nov. 1, you don't have to wait too long for both to ship as one order to get the free shipping. I don't think we'll see much lower than a $15.99 Tuesday price for RoTS at BB/CC/Target.

ok...I know most of you have already picked this up....and I also know that several copies are in store now. I do not mean to cause a panic. I think most of you know me well enough to know that i am not a troller.
i got an e-mail today at work. It basically stated, that do to manufacturing problems The 2-disc set was not being shipped for replenishment. They warned us that many stores will not get replacements until December.
They gave little info on what that meant. Luckily I have heard little to no problems on the disc playing. My disc two took a bit long to load, but no big deal. SO... If you were on the fence, and can't wait. Get it now. Also, if anyone has watched everything all the way through, please post.
No worries, no big deal. just info.

I watched everything and the only thing I noticed was one of the featurettes took a while to load, almost seemed like my player locked up, but it played after 10 or so seconds.
As long as the movie keeps playing well, i'll be happy since I doubt ill watch the supplements again.

The "Batman Begins super duper special edition with directors cut?" thread is closed now, so:
You may be right. Though I don't think it's likely until the sequel is released. I was just enjoying the sarcasm generated by your original post. And yes, I did find it silly to hold out for something better than the Deluxe Edition. Just think of all the joy you could get from this one until then. To each his own.

Anyone else upset with the bonus disc? It is clunky and hard as hell to navigate through. After accessing some of the 'secret' features, I am stuck in the menu and have to eject the disc and start all over. Would have been nice to just have a 'Play All' option.
Otherwise, love this release, one of the few I will actually buy this year. Great movie.

The 2-disc version seems to be gone, as if it never existed. If it did have problems, it must have been either recalled, or very few stores carried it.

I picked my copy up at Wal-Mart, midnight. At that time, there was maybe 30 copies at the most and when I went back yesterday, there was none of the double disc. For some reason it appears that WB didn't send out a lot of the double disc.

I think I read there was a easter egg that lets you browse the 2nd disc w/out the annoying comicbook menus... can somebody post that here please, at least in spoilerized text?
Oh, and I trudged through the menu until I found the featurette about the Tumbler, and WOW I have respect for that after watching how they built/tested/used it!

After watching the video on how they made the 1989 batmobile and this one, the tumbler kicks its ass.
The biggest surprise while watching the docs was that they used a small amount of computer graphics. I couldn't believe that they actually tried to use real bats for the "backup" scene!!!

I'm not sure what is up with BB DE and the shortages seen in B&Ms in Canada and the US. Over at HTF, there is a lot of discussion about the 2-disc set being currently out-of-production, some rumors of there being some fault in the manufacturing of the 2nd run of the set, and a BB DE now listed on deepdiscountdvd that has a different UPC (rumored to be without the comic book). Futureshop.ca and Bestbuy.ca still have no BB DE listed online (since release day) nor is it available in-store. But HMV still had some of them last I checked. So could it be that the scarcity of this set is not just due to stores ordering less of the DE? Anyone in the know care to shed some insight?

This information was posted over at HTF, but I thought I'd post it here also. DVD Empire currently has the following text on their details page for Batman Begins DE:
NOTICE: This DVD has been cancelled by Warner Bros. and is not available at this time. The only Batman Begins DVD currently available for purchase is the single-disc edition.
It also looks like bestbuy.com has joined the ranks of bestbuy.ca and futureshop.ca in removing BB DE from their web site. Who knows, maybe Amazon is not far behind in doing the same.
