But the list prices are different...the Widescreen is $28.98 and the Deluxe is $30.99.

Wow, at 48% off, the deluxe almost seems like a no-brainer. It sucks that WB (which is one of the best at releasing DVDs it seems) insists on doing this. Oh, well.

Thanks for the info.

I heard today that Warner is releasing a one-disc version and a two-disc version of Batman Begins. The artwork above will be the one-disc version...

That's the image I was hoping they'd use. Well, any of the theatrical art will work - they were all good imo.

That was my favorite movie poster art for Batman Begins. I also hope we get it for the R1 release.

Dts!!!

They ain't suckering me on the double dip. I'll wait for the DTS version before I buy. There are those who say DD can sound just as good and you are certainly entitled to your opinion however in my opinion most of the DTS DVDs I have sound better when I flip to DTS mode.

I can't wait for DTS HD!!!!!

Only thing I don't like about these two-release DVD's is that the "Deluxe/Collector's/what should've been the regular DVD" version is never marked down the same % as the reg version. Best we can hope for is a $22-$24 sale price for the two-disc.

I'm hoping one of the major stores will offer a buy two or more Batman movies get $5, $10 off, etc..

This has been officially announced by Warner now, according to thedigitalbits.com

Not that I'm complaining, because I'm happy this is officially announced now and I can't wait to pick this one up, but I think of all the theatrical posters, they picked the worst one for the 2-disc deluxe edition.

My personal favorite is the middle one, although I don't know that would make the best cover art. The first one would work great though, in my opinion.

Oh well, it could be worse: at least it looks like a keep case instead of a snapper.

This is great news to finally have the announcement. Will be glad to add this to the collection.

Well... Warner's finally gone and done it. They've officially announced the DVD release of Batman Begins for 10/18, as we've been expecting. You'll be able to buy a single-disc regular edition (SRP $28.98) and a 2-disc Deluxe Edition (SRP $30.97). Each will include the film in anamorphic widescreen video (2.40:1), with English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.
We believe there will be a full frame version of the regular edition as well.

We don't have all the details yet, but we do know that the 2-disc Batman Begins: Deluxe Edition will feature 8 documentaries (including Genesis of the Bat: Batman Incarnations from the Mid-1980s to the Present, The Journey Begins: Creative Concepts, Story Development and Casting, Shaping Mind and Body: Fighting Style, Gotham City Rises: Production Design, Cape and Cowl: The New Batsuit, The Tumbler: The New Batmobile, Path to Discovery: Filming in Iceland and Saving Gotham City: The Monorail Chase Sequence), several Confidential Files featurettes (broken into Characters and Weaponry), an interactive Inner Demons comic book, theatrical trailers, a photo gallery, Easter eggs and DVD-ROM features (including a Batman Begins "mobile game demo"). The set will also include an exclusive 72-page comic book containing 3 reprinted issues/stories that influenced the film (including Detective Comics #37, Batman: The Man Who Falls and Batman: The Long Halloween). There's no word yet on possible audio commentary, and additional extras are likely TBA
Wonder if the regular edition will be bare bones?

Both discs will carry a 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen presentation, along with English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. The only extras on the single-disc will be a Batman Begins Mobile Game Demo and some Weblinks.

Seeing that the releases only have a MSRP difference of TWO WHOLE DOLLARS, they should have just not even bothered with the single disc release (and then used the single-disc artwork )

If the pics that Nick Martin posted are the actual artwork, I have to say that the 2 Disc cover pretty much sucks. But the contents sound pretty sweet, so i don't care.

Ditto....but I still would have rather seen a simplistic cover similar to Batman (1989)....with a lone bat symbol (of course the one from Begins).

Hopefully, someone will create one at the den.

I guess I'm not seeing it. On one you've got Batman dropping down from the sky, creating a silhouette of the famous bat symbol against the dimly glowing sky, while enshrouded with a swarm of bats. And on the other, you've got a thumb.
