d,

Don't you have experience in sound processing/production? Did you notice anything when watching "Sith"?

Well, I don't agree. But who cares. Lucas is in a no-win situation. No matter what is done where the names Lucas and Star Wars are concerned, it's going to be put under a microscope and dissected to an idiotic degree. They'll find something to whine and cry about, no matter what. It's gotten way beyond pathetic at this point.

I've thought since the end of Episode III. Lucas should really give the so-called fans something to complain about. End all of Star Wars forever, when Sith ends in theaters.

Terrell - was it some sort of anti-Lucas sentiment that led to people complaining about the DTS track on the Jurassic Park DVD or the misframing on the Back to the Future discs? I wasn't grumbling about Lucas when I was behind my subwoofer last night trying to figure out if a wire had come loose, I just wanted to figure out what was wrong with the sound!

Have to agree. You're anti-Lucas radar is off on this one Terrell. Need to turn down the sensitivity level some.

This is just standard nitpicky audio-philes finding something to bitch about on their new dvd.

What else can we do??? Bitch about the HD/Blue Ray format war?

We need to complain about something to keep these forums interesting.

Did anybody else who picked it up at Target buy the supposedly 2-disc CD Best of Star Wars I-VI? I thought this was going to be a NEW release from Sony Classical. Apparently, it's the OST of ROTS with a CD in a slip case taped to the back. Which really blows since I already bought the OST back when it was first released. I guess the only good thing is you basically get a 3-disc set (2CD 1DVD) for $15.

Did anyone else think the yellow tint in the opening crawl was toned down? The color looked washed out - but the picture quality for the rest of the movie seemed fine. (Yes, I already know people are going to call me nitpicky.)

does your remote have a "+10" button? mine has that. You have to press that and a 1 to get 11.

put your "curser" on the THX symbol. that's the way i've always done it.

Yeah...it sounded pretty damn good. I actually just watched it today and it was as I remembered it in the theaters. I will say that i did have to crank up my volume about 6 levels higher than I usually do.

Sith is the ONLY movie of the prequels where the music is remotely where it should be. Anyone who can read "body language" and understands the MASSIVE problem that the prequels and the SE versions of the OT have with sound needs to watch the main featurette on disc 2. When it gets to sound mixing, Burtt talks about having a war between he and Ken, the music producer and how they've been having this argument for 30 years. Well, the ego oozing out of his lips makes me sick and I single-handedly blame him for the horrible presentation the score has received in the last 10 years. They need a sound mixer who loves MOVIES to go in there and do the mix...not someone who's so in love with his own design that he can't do a proper balance.

For those who are wondering about the Target-exclusive 'Star Wait' DVD, IGN posts a review. This pretty much sums up the review:

The fact that I'm a guitarist notwithstanding, it was a fun time, and much partying was done that thankfully was preserved on videotaped for posterity. Later, in the wee hours, we watched the entire tape and relived the party while waiting for the fatigue and libations to claim our consciousness for the evening.

The reason I mention this is because one thing we didn't do is package our party tape up as a DVD and score distribution through a major national retail chain, but that's pretty much what the producers of Star Wait have done. As a result, what we have here is a good document of - but a poor documentary about - the queue of fans that convened in front of Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood to commemorate the release of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones in 2002.

Dear Joe Canadian:

I'm with you, brother, but next time, be like me. You have other options. Knowing that this bilingual cover would mess with all my other SW DVDs, I just ordered it from Amazon.com. Now I have an english-only cover and all my discs line up nice and perfect-like. Including shipping, it cost me exactly 65 CENTS more than it would have here in Canada.

Bottom line: if you don't like the look of it, don't buy it. You wouldn't believe the number of people I've heard complain about this specific instance of bilingual packaging, but what do they do about it? Nothing. They buy the disc anyway, which sends Fox a clear message: we don't care.

Infuriating.

Just a note on pricing for those in Canada (particularly Toronto). Zellers has ROTS for $14.87 today only. I ended up getting it at Futureshop for only $14.16 plus tax, which is as good a deal as I have seen anywhere for this title.

It's not going to make one lick of difference if everyone who doesn't like this practise stopped buying them, because the general public doesn't care and would still buy them. Fox isn't going to get any other message other than: it's cheaper for us.

Normally I don't care either, it's just annoying when it's part of a series of movies & some or all are different. I'll probably pick up the US version next time I'm in the States... or I'll just print out a scan of the cover.

How did you get it for $14 at Futureshop? It was $19 on Tuesday, and $21 from Wednesday on... wasn't it?

why don't you just get the Hong Kong import at Pacific Mall and switch the covers, then sell it to a Hong Kong fella who might have the need for Chinese subtitles?

Hong Kong edition has english-only on the cover. clear-case, insert included plus postcards like the VCD release of Episode 1.

I just got them to price match Zeller's today only price, and to beat it by an additional 10%.
