I'm guessing it's more like 99%. I predicted that this would happen in post 161.

I had heard that Get Smart came out last week... so I was on the look out for it... I plucked it off the shelf and immediately thought... how the hell do they fit an entire series on one disk! And Max looked a bit funny as well. Then I turn it over and there's Andy Dick! I thought "I know I haven't seen this show in a while, but how the heck was Andy Dick in it, and how come it isn't in B&W?!? Upon further inspection I figured it out and promptly returned it to the shelf.

Only the Pilot episode was in B&W. The entire show was shot in color.

I'm very excited to see that season 1 of Get Smart will be released in stores August 5th. I'm so happy because I loved the show, and now I can finally buy it without selling out a ton of money for the Time Life set.

Except for the fact that if it doesn't sell well enough, you may never even see all five seasons in stores. It's happened before you know.

HA-HA! Me, too! I was like, wow - the complete series on one DVD?! - then I saw Maxwell Smart had grey hair, and I thought, "hmm..." Then I read the back and saw something about him having a son...and I said, "how deceptive of them!"

I didn't know the second series was named the exact same name as the original series...that's kind of odd, isn't it? And misleading! Glad I bothered to read the back and look at the gosh-darn packaging. I wonder how many people got this disc home, played it, and felt like total suckers.

just a heads up, I havent got my r1 set yet so I cant say this for sure but the r4 sets seem to be NTSC-PAL conversions.

Will post again when I've had a chance to compare it with season 1 r1.

r4's are definitely ntsc-pal versions, runtime is the same and they are softer with some ghosting effects.

They are releasing the whole season sets on Amazon Dec.9 for $140.
It's still to much to buy the whole thing at once but any news on releasing these seasons individually?

From that link, it appears that the content is exactly the same whether you buy the complete series, or each season separately (except the box). Season one was $16 at Costco, so separately would be cheaper.

I'd go the solo route, but want to get all the bonus features. Can anyone who bought the whole set comment on where the bonus disc/features are? The separate first season appears to be bare bones.

Trevor, all the special features are on disc 5 for each season. 5 seasons x 5 discs = 25 total discs. Time-Life really did a nice job on the special features, so I would highly recommend going that route.

Except that the in stores release of season one only has 4 discs.

Maybe the extras are exclusive to Time Life? Anyone know about the Amazon release?

It's not totally bare bones.
You don't get the extras that's on disc five, but you do get the audio commentaries and Barbara Feldon's episode intros that are on the other four discs.

Season 2 released on 3/10/09 for $19
on Amazon and Deep Discount DVD
I can wait and save a few bucks for it
I'll be waiting for that date impatiently
This is a good indication that the other Seasons
will follow at some point in time and cheaper too.

If you plan on buying all 5 seasons, you're still better off just buying the box..

I will definetely buy the first three seasons, I thought at the end of it's run, the last year or maybe two, it tailed off a bit. Espescially when Max and 99 were married later on.
I could change my mind later, but i'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
