You can't really get on TImeLife for the promotion. They stated sets would not be available at retail outlets until Nov 2007, so there was no guarantee they would offer any other sets separately until that time(although I agree it's not very smart financially to only release 1 season). However, in case anyone is interested, there are deals to be had. 20% off + free shipping coupons from TimeLife come around frequently, and on top of that they offer (or at least did when the set premiered) to break up payments into 4 monthly installments. If you figure in fatwallet promotional cashback (when ordering), you should be able to get the set for a little over $132, or $26.50/ season. For some reason, FW gave me double rewards, so in the end I only paid $120.

And I was looking forward to seeing Siegfried (sp.) too. Well Nov 2007 isn't that far off, I think?

They did something similar with me - I ended up getting a 42.84 FatCash credit!

When will the Get Smart DVD collection be available at all the regular retail outlets? I thought it was supposed to be late 2007. Did Time-Life get an extended period of time to sell the sets on an exclusive basis?

I have a huge un-watched pile of dvds, but I would like to add Get Smart to the pile.

I thought this was already explained. HBO got the option to release them starting in 2007. But they may be holding off to better time those releases with the Get Smart movie itself, or perhaps its DVD release.

Or never. It has never been announced that there would be a general retail release once the Time-Life exclusive expires.

I don't know why someone who wants it bad enough just doesn't order it from Time Life then. I got my set and I love it. I've had finished watching it a year ago or so.

I know...just buy the damn thing already! You can do the installment plan with them so it makes it easy. People are waiting around like its not available...and its right there.

Another 20% off code
"*To claim your 20% Off coupon:
Enter TLBLOOM in the coupon code box on the shopping cart page. This exclusive offer expires 11:59 p.m., ET, March 27, 2008. Applies to merchandise orders of $75 or more, excluding taxes and shipping charges, before discount taken."

One of the featured items on the email is Get Smart. It has free shipping as well.
Forty bucks off, free shipping, and no-fee installment billing is probably the best way to get this. 32 bucks a season. IF the seasons are released in B&M, then it's LIKELY that EVENTUALLY they could drop to ~20 bucks, or maybe even a BOGO....but that's a long time to wait for a mere possibility.

Sony is trying to trick people into thinking that the June 3 release of the 1995 Get Smart reuinion series is actually the original series.

The cover of the box says, "The Complete Series - Get Smart."

A lot of casual shoppers who see this on store shelves will mistakenly think it's the original series, buy it, and end up feeling that they have been ripped off.

This is no accident on the part of Sony. They are doing it deliberately:

Anyone stupid enough to think they would be getting 5 seasons of the original series on one DVD for under $20 needs help.

The box shows an obviously aged Max and 99 and the tagline "The Smarts are back in Control".

A quick flip to the reverse would confirm this is the reunion series, which was titled simply "Get Smart" and the disc will include all episodes.

There is not an evil plot by KAOS.....just a marketing opportunity.

That said, this series wasn't very good, but there are a few fun moments here and there. Overall, it isn't as good as the 1989 TVM "Get Smart, Again" or even the "The Nude Bomb".

I'd much rather have 'The Nude Bomb' than this but I'll still buy this.

I believe Paramount is releasing The Nude Bomb the same day.

It's Universal, but yes, it is being released the same day. As long as you think of it all as a weird dream of Max's, the 1980 film is pretty funny, really. It doesn't work as a direct sequel to the series, but there are some great moments. The TV version even had a couple of extra scenes added, which would be nice as an extra, but I won't hold my breath.

The 1989 TV Movie was the best of all the revivals, probably the best sitcom reunion ever made.

The 1995 series was pretty much a vehicle for Andy Dick, though I agree, the Bernie Koppell episode is decent.

I'm just glad I'll soon be able to have it all on DVD.

Yeah, to finally have 'The Nude Bomb' and even this short lived Andy Dick series, will make my Get Smart collection much more complete than I ever even dreamed. It's a bit unfair for the stubborn folks who know about the full series being on sale at Time Life, and the rest of the public that probably don't even know it exists yet, but my Get Smart collection will be complete. Hells yes.

I was under the impression that Time-Life was to have the exclusive for a year, which would have expired around October 2007. I guess they extended it.

Not everyone wants to buy either season 1 or the complete series. Some people might want a few seasons, but not the entire series. Some people might want just season 2, which is, perhaps, the best season. I don't know why it hasn't been released in stores yet.

An exclusive simply means that no one else can sell it. The exclusive period has ended, but it doesn't mean HBO HAS to make it available elsewhere, it just means they now have the opportunity to do so. They are the ones choosing to sit on it.

Season 1, without the disc of extras, goes retail on August 5, with a suggested retail price of only $24.98:

I had bought Season 1 when it became available before. I really don't care too much about the extras. So if any time in the future they decide to release Season 2, 3, etc. I'm all over it. Could this mean that the other Season sets will be available seperately at future times? I sure do hope so. I've been waiting for years for them to do it.
I'm not going to shell out $200 for the complete set when I already have Season 1.

DVDEmpire currently has it on sale for 50% off the SRP, only $12.47:

I'm not interested in owning this, but if I were, I'd grab it at that price.

That is a great price on season one.

I notice the 1995 series is a top seller at Deep Discount -- I'm guessing 90% of the people who ordered it think they're getting the original series. Sad!

You may be right, but DD lists it as "Get Smart - The Complete Series", with a runtime of 158 minutes. Anyone dumb enough to think they're getting 5 years worth of shows for $14.62...

You know what they say about a fool and his money...

I think they will indeed release them all seperately.

I usually (but not always) just buy my favorite season of a show, and I think I might just get season 2. However, if I ever decided to get 1 and 3, I could buy those later too.
