Oh no, this is going to turn into a "where's my English dub" debate.

I posted about this on page 7 when I received my corrected disc in the mail. The number on the new disc does end in V4. Mine specifically read D191757V4 02

Josh, Four weeks from mailing it off to them. It took about 2 weeks to get the mailer from them.

true, but it annoys me even more when i can't understand the language. I'll just stick with English only movies.

Original language tracks rock for any DVD ... if only because that's the language reflective of the culture where the movie was made. Nothing wrong with having a dub, though, especially when you f%$# up the subtitles.

OK, it's been more than a month since I shipped my DVD for the replacement copy ... time for the unpleasant phone call. Ick.

Foe anyone who hasn't got a copy yet, Blockbuster is selling off their rental copies for $12.99 or 2 for $20. These are all old versions, but at least you wouldn't have to spend $20 on a new one just to have to send it away. The couple of stores I went to yesterday all had a couple copies each and they were in perfect condition, looked like they had never been rented. Mine did't come with an insert though. Does it even come with an insert?

I also received my replacement in the mail yesterday. Corrected subs are nice. The turnaround time for me from receiving the envelope to sending it off and getting the replacement was probably less than 2 weeks.

Same for me, less than two weeks and the new disc looks great.

I really would like an explanation from Dreamworks as to why the new v4 packaging doesn't include the fixed DVD like they told us it would.

This might help...

I might be the [even smaller] minority at the other end of the spectrum. I always turn on the English subtitles, even if the soundtrack is in English. For MGM DVDs, I'll put on the Spanish subtitles [English is the only language I know, but I took four years of Spanish in High School]. I do not believe I am hard of hearing.

Are you going to feel any better after they give you an explanation? Just send away for the new disc, and enjoy the movie when it arrives. It's a pain in the ass, but that is what it'll take to get what you want.

I use closed captioning/subtitles for English audio programs a lot myself. Certain people's voices have some timbre or tone to them, that makes them inaudible to me. I saw Prince last fall in concert and I could barely make out half of the lyrics, though I could hear the song as a whole just fine and enjoyed the show. I always turn on the CC for Aqua Teen Hunger Force since Meatwad is nearly incomprehensible to me. AndI can't stand missing a line of his dialogue. It can be distracting, but I get over it.

Luckily I already did request and have received my DVD mailer envelope. I requested it when they first started offering them in anticipation of using it. However, I decided to just wait for the corrected versions to get into store. Now I'm glad I still have the envelope. Now to go buy the DVD.

I've requested a mailer TWICE now... Still NOTHING. First time a few days after the replacement site went live and another time a few weeks ago.

I'm starting to get pissed.

I had to request it twice also. Then a few days after I requested the SECOND envelope, I got the first one. Fortunately, once you get to stage 2 and the DVD is in the mail, they get back to you with the good copy quickly in comparison.

Still waiting too...

I have been holding off watching this movie. I requested the envelope a good two weeks ago - still nothing.

How many others are in this boat?

I requested mine before I bought the dvd, almost two weeks ago, and finally got it yesterday. Did everybody else just get this thin paper envelope to return?

Yes, the return envelope was thin and just barely bigger than the DVD itself. The corrected disc was sent back in a small box that was also just barely bigger than the DVD.

After 2 separate requests I finally got a mailer yesterday, and sent it off this morning. I hope the turnaround for replacement is a lot faster than getting the mailer was.

(And that the new disc finally does fix this damn thing.)
