last I knew it was supposed to come out to compliment the theatrical release of True Lies 2. TL2 was supposed to be made quite some time ago, but now with Arnie on political front, that may never happen.

A couple years ago I got to ask Tom Arnold about TL2 and at that time they were waiting for James Cameron. He said there's a script and everyone was just waiting on James. Now with Arnie busy I think cactusoly is right that it might never happen.
Since this is the situation, they could at least come out with a True Lies SE. I'd sure get it.

It doesn't matter though. I think Arnold is done with acting no matter what he does with his political future.

Not good news...but news
from the bits
By the way (this is Rumor Mill worthy, so take note accordingly), we've checked with our sources... Fox has no immediate plans to re-release James Cameron's True Lies and The Abyss on DVD in new, anamorphic widescreen editions. All the focus is currently on getting Titanic done to everyone's satisfaction in time for the October release. Once that's done however, you never know. Maybe you'll see them in 2006. We'll keep you posted as always.

I still don't get Hollywood thinking. I mean the only people that might get offended are people of Middle Eastern background and I doubt very much if they were the target audience of the film anyway. If Kiefer Sutherland can hopelessly try to annihilate Middle Easterns every Monday night then I should be able to watch True Lies 2!!

The first excuse for a True Lies SE was 9/11, then the most recent excuse is that Arnold is governor and has no time. An anamorphic transfer and minimal extras would satisfy me at this point.

This is one of those titles that truely baffles me. True Lies was one of those few titles that FOX released in WS VHS in one of those special clamshell cases. Same thing goes with The Abyss. Both of which have yet to get anamorphic treatments on DVD.

The HTF chat with Fox last year, Fox said they wanted to release the Abyss in 16x9 at some point. I guess they are just waiting for Cameron to finish Titanic to put together a True Lies SE (I doubt Arnold would have any involvement now) and to re-release The Abyss.

I went ahead and ordered the korean version. I dont think there are any special features, but it has a nice anamorphic transfer and dolby 5.1 sound. It was cheap too, like $6-8 (not including shipping).
