True Lies SE?

Man I remember back when the Speed: Five Star came out there was supposed to be a True Lies SE too, what happened? Wheres it at? Its been a long time comin ya know.

cactusoly 11-29-04 08:32 AM

last I knew it was supposed to come out to compliment the theatrical release of True Lies 2. TL2 was supposed to be made quite some time ago, but now with Arnie on political front, that may never happen.

TomOpus 11-29-04 08:38 AM

A couple years ago I got to ask Tom Arnold about TL2 and at that time they were waiting for James Cameron. He said there's a script and everyone was just waiting on James. Now with Arnie busy I think cactusoly is right that it might never happen.

Since this is the situation, they could at least come out with a True Lies SE. I'd sure get it.

9/11 happned and no one will now go near the film at all, or a sequel ever!

Cameron expressed this feeling a while back, so dont look like the dvd or a sequel ever will come :(

Rammsteinfan 11-29-04 12:59 PM

I thought it was scheduled for summer 05 or so rumored just recently?

What does 9/11 have to do with it? The film is about NSA/CIA-like agents. The story for TL2 can be about anything.

It doesn't matter though. I think Arnold is done with acting no matter what he does with his political future.

Not good news...but news

from the bits

By the way (this is Rumor Mill worthy, so take note accordingly), we've checked with our sources... Fox has no immediate plans to re-release James Cameron's True Lies and The Abyss on DVD in new, anamorphic widescreen editions. All the focus is currently on getting Titanic done to everyone's satisfaction in time for the October release. Once that's done however, you never know. Maybe you'll see them in 2006. We'll keep you posted as always.

chileorgullo 03-23-05 11:58 PM

according to the total recall special edition dvd, schwarzenegger filmographies:

(2004) True Lies 2
(2003) Terminator 3
(2002) Collateral Damage

DavidH 03-24-05 01:05 AM

If 9/11 is a problem for the film, why do they still continue to sell the DVD? I wish they would just issue an anamorphic version and be done with it.

for a while there it was next to impossible to be found...i think it was even considered to be OOP...then one day it just started showing up again.

Was that a joke?

In the movie, Middle Eastern terrorists successfully attack the United States on their own soil, in response to US foreign policy.

PopcornTreeCt 03-24-05 01:22 AM

I still don't get Hollywood thinking. I mean the only people that might get offended are people of Middle Eastern background and I doubt very much if they were the target audience of the film anyway. If Kiefer Sutherland can hopelessly try to annihilate Middle Easterns every Monday night then I should be able to watch True Lies 2!!

D-Ball 03-24-05 01:30 AM

The first excuse for a True Lies SE was 9/11, then the most recent excuse is that Arnold is governor and has no time. An anamorphic transfer and minimal extras would satisfy me at this point.

ruk 03-24-05 08:19 AM

i have really waited patiently for this SE but while we are at it, what about eraser, i love to see a SE for that.

I went ahead and ordered the korean version. I dont think there are any special features, but it has a nice anamorphic transfer and dolby 5.1 sound. It was cheap too, like $6-8 (not including shipping).

Mike Lowrey 03-24-05 10:19 AM

This is one of those titles that truely baffles me. True Lies was one of those few titles that FOX released in WS VHS in one of those special clamshell cases. Same thing goes with The Abyss. Both of which have yet to get anamorphic treatments on DVD.

digitalfreaknyc 03-24-05 10:26 AM

I guess I'll just have to continue to enjoy my DTS 16x9 DVD ;)

JoeyOhhhh 03-24-05 10:27 AM

The HTF chat with Fox last year, Fox said they wanted to release the Abyss in 16x9 at some point. I guess they are just waiting for Cameron to finish Titanic to put together a True Lies SE (I doubt Arnold would have any involvement now) and to re-release The Abyss.

Will the Korean version play on R1 players? If so, please let me know where you ordered it.
