Hey, will the UE 5th E have FULL bitrate DTS?

By the way, the commentary on the UK SE version probably isn't that interesting as it is done by the special effects crew. I also hear the UK SE's pic quality is inferior.

Third Baseman 12-19-04 08:17 PM

I can't wait. I can't wait. I can't wait!

ctyankee 12-19-04 09:36 PM

I'll wait and see on Leon and see how great everything really pans out to be.

The Fifth Element ... not a chance - the superbit is wonderful and I don't care much for most featurettes. Heck, the Superbit looks so good there is a chance they might even muck up the new one ...

buckee1 12-19-04 09:39 PM

I just picked up the SB of the fifth element and also have the R2 SE so, I'll pass. I have the SB of Leon as well but depending on what extras are included, I may get that. What can i say, I just love jean Reno.

JLyon1515 12-20-04 09:24 AM

So I have the German R2 version of Fifth Element. Do you think the extras on the new one will be better? Other than having one extra that's in German, I really liked the load of extras on the R2.

Any thoughts?

Columbia TriStar has never done full bit-rate DTS.

QuiGonJosh 12-30-04 04:22 PM

Sounds like they stuck the same ol crappy DTS mix on this release! Bah! :thmbsdwn:

Squirrel God 12-30-04 08:38 PM

Looks like I;ll be sticking with my existing copy of Leon then.

The commentary track will probably be on the NEXT double dip. Bah.

BizRodian 12-30-04 09:18 PM

Yeah, not rebuying for 45 minutes of featurettes. Even though I really like featurettes.

ctyankee 12-30-04 10:28 PM

My existing copy is fine. I love the film but even the featurettes they are including sound boring. Pass.

Fok 12-30-04 10:28 PM

So the extra's are different from the international uncut version? I was also hoping to see the other scenes that were cut :(

cupon 12-30-04 10:29 PM

Thanks for the early review DVD Talk. It gives me just enough time to cancel my amazon pre-order.

Artman 12-30-04 11:10 PM

Changed my mind on this one too. Will still get the 5th Element SE though, since I already traded my old one in...

mijang 12-30-04 11:33 PM

Am I reading into this review correctly: the audio on this newest release is exactly the same as the Superbit and the uncorrected International release. So the only version worth owning would be the corrected International release except the picture quality on that release would not be as good as the Superbit or this newest release.

Is there any other site that might have a more definite answer on whether the audio mix on this release is the corrected version?

Third Baseman 12-31-04 12:37 AM

Will regular Wal Marts have Leon 2 disc?

nonametofame 12-31-04 01:01 AM

I'm still pretty excited about this release. Even if the DTS track is defective, which still hasn't been verified, I'll just stick to DD 5.1. It's not a highly aggressive track like Spidey 2, which warrants a DTS track. I still don't own the international release edition, but I'd gladly double dip on this one.

Rivero 12-31-04 01:38 AM

So is the DTS track screwed up or what?? Someone find an answer!!

QuiGonJosh 12-31-04 03:55 AM

From the review, it sounds like it. Also I read at HTF that it states Superbit on the back of the case, which would mean that the first disc is likely the Superbit release, which had the messed up sound mix.

I'll keep my corrected Leon and 5th Element: Superbit.

WRONG.

The DD5.1 is messed up too. It's not just the DTS track. This doesn't solve your problem.

Sounds quite a poor dvd set :( after all the waiting and that all we get! pretty crap all round really for all the time I have waited, will stick with my Korean and old R1 editions as its a waste of time again after about 9 versions.

Same here!

Plus, for trailer fans, the trailer for LEON is not on the LEON disc. However, oddly, the LEON trailer is on the FIFTH ELEMENT disc.
