The problem with the transfer is the same problem that has been present on all the other DVD versions of this film that I’ve seen to date (indicating that it could be either a problem with the negative or a stylistic choice on the part of Besson or cinematographer Thierry Arbogast), the image looks just slightly soft. If you look at objects in the background, desk clutter or pictures or street poles or whatever, they’re slightly fuzzy compared to objects that are closer in the frame. |

How does one distinguish the corrected International version from the uncorrected one? I used to know the answer to this, but it looks like now I'll have to go out and buy another corrected version after I sold off my copy in anticipation of this release.
|
The corrected version has "Remastered Audio" printed in the list of special features. Once of those rare cases when a new audio track IS a special feature. Looks like I may have made the right call in keeping my old copy rather than dumping it at Blockbuster for $8.

The correction version 043396061965 and the back says something like "Newly Remastered 5.1 Audio". |
Any idea how the "corrected, remastered" audio that we're speaking of fares next to the Korean 2-disc? And, wasn't the Superbit also corrected at a later date?
|
I'm glad i held onto my old Leon as well and didn't trade it in to Blockbuster.
|
Superbit was never corrected.

Well, looks like it has been verified that the newer release does indeed have the corrected soundtrack. Or at least, some changes have been made. Man, you guys sure love to make judgment calls based on pure speculation. |
I made a comment based on the original review which stated the the surrounds were not very active and the audio lacked a certain punch. That made sense to me, since those are the complaints against the incorrect audio of the superbit and original release.

Well, we have one reviewer saying that it's better. And let's also say that said reviewer didn't even know about the problem before. So are they really the best judge? I'm not dipping into the Leon pool for the 4th time without confirmation.

One might count them as (excluding The Professional release)..
1. Leon (downmixed audio) 2. Leon (fixed audio) 3. Leon Superbit 4. Leon Deluxe |
Well, that's good news on the DTS track. This is one of the very few films that I will buy every incarnation of.

Review for the 2 disk verison of the 5th Element:
http://search.netscape.com/ns/boomfr...dvdid%253D5610 Superbit tranfer still a bit better. |
That's a review for the R2, which has been out for some time I believe.

There is a review on Amazon that says the new Fifth Element disc one is the same as the superbit transfer.

Ehh...good that they kept the DTS, but I think I'm still just gonna stick with my Superbit and the corrected original version of Leon...
|
So who picked up the new Leon and has compared the audio?
|
Theres a review at HTF that says the the audio on the DE is the corrected mix.
