New store in Macon, Movie Stop, had a midnight sale. Staff were dressed up like jedi knights. They had a trivia game and a drawing for a copy of the trilogy and another one for Mace Windu's lightsaber. My 11 year old son wanted to get the lightsaber which is why I was there at midnight. Didn't win either, oh well. Got a free Lion King t-shirt and a Nemo cap, son was happy with those.

Traded in 3 dvd's and got the set for $29.96. Computer was messed up and the sku would not read. Staff had to trick the system to check us out. There were approximately 30 customers and everyone was laughing when the employees displayed 3 full screen copies. Employees quickly placed those copies back in the box.

1st in line, but with sku trouble took almost 30 minutes to check out. Glad to finally have this set.

I had something strange happen.

When I came out of Best Buy with my WS copy, a black Rolls Royce pulled up and this guy with a salt and pepper beard leaned over and opened the side passenger door. Before I knew what was going on, my childhood hopped in and they took off. I was kind of freaked and just stood there for a little while trying to figure out what just happened. Next thing I know, the Rolls roars back up, the front passenger door flies open and this guy shoves my childhood out onto the sidewalk.

To make a long story short, I’m at the hospital now. An Evidence Tech is taking Polaroids of the bruises. While my childhood won’t talk to anyone and is all shaky, the cops are saying it was nonconsensual.

Weird.

Best buying experience just happened to me...

So I buy the set yesterday at FYE for $49.99, mailed in the $15 rebate, which should take about 2 weeks and thus set will be net $38.

When I went to FYE, they gave me 3 free posters with my set. They are nice, heavy stock, glossy posters about 27"x40", pictures of the Trilogy's individual DVD artwork.

Just sold them on eBay for $32.50, which therefore nets me the whole set for $5.50!!

"I am lovin every minute of it!!" Lol

if those posters are the same artwork as the dvd sleeves, then they're nothing to cry home about, and you made out like a bandit. that has got to be the worse artwork for a major release i've seen in a long time. taking heads and photoshopping them onto disproportional bodies.

Went to Best Buy around 11:30 a.m. yesterday, grabbed the set, the new Green Day CD and went straight to checkout with no lines.

i don't think the artwork is that bad. very inline with the first 2 eps of course. but each gets to the heart of the stories. the disc artwork though is phenomenal..true vintage.
but hey $32.50..who am i to complain and say what they are worth. though other auctions have gone for a bit higher even. either way it paid for my entire set.

Got mine at Best Buy without incident. Hurried home and popped in ROTJ in order to rub one out to Bikini Leia. Turned out that in my haste I had put in the bonus disc by mistake, and I was too worked up to stop...so I had to settle for an modern-day interview with Carrie Fisher instead.

I walked into Wal-Mart Tuesday afternoon, after work. Took a look at the $47 pricetag... turned around and walked out.

I am still currently shopping for the set.

It was a bit of a non-event. I went to Fye to pick up my copy after work yesterday evening. I already had done the $5 deposit and had $40 in store credit, but the newbie clerk couldn't ring up my purchase correctly. I had to keep asking her if she applied my store credit since the total price rang up. She kept on shaking head, saying I already applied my credit (thinking I was referring to the $5 deposit). Finally her manager came in and did everything himself. Then when the clerk asked me which free poster I wanted, I said, "Star Wars" (referring to Episode IV, of course). But then looked blankly back and asked, "Yeah, but which one?"

All in the all, the set cost me $6.74.

Big time YMMV.

Fry's was selling for $36.99 so my Wal*Mart had it marked for $36.88 (plus no hassle since Fry's can be a zoo).
Thanks for the heads-up on the thread Tom. I'll have to peruse that one.

I wrote my story in jest, and I should've stuck a smiley in there somewhere.

It's funny, because we don't have WalMarts in the NY tri-state area, and they have a mystique of being the place with insanely low prices on certain stuff, like new releases or toys.

I'll admit, it was anti-climactic to find one and see that it was not always the case. But hey, I'm not complaining at all since I both found a set and got it for a good price.

Cheers.

Most Best Buys have switched to that type of line now. I think it's great, it removes the chance of picking a line that doesn't move because one dumbass customer and/or cashier is tying it up.

I went to Deep Discount DVD a little later than usual (around 1:30 instead of my usual 12:30), walked in, looked at the new releases rack, picked up Orca and Dawn of the Dead, asked for them to pull Sssssss and Bug from the warehouse for me (I'm catching up on the last few weeks of releases) then started browsing. Then I noticed the Star Wars Trilogy set on the endcap and thought, "Oh yeah, I need that too," and grabbed one. ($41.88)

You can see it wasn't the first thing on my mind.

I avoided the midnight sales and ordered from DDD last Wednesday. I used overnight shipping, but got it on Friday.

They actually shipped it a day late, so when I complained, they refunded the shipping charge. So, I ended up with it a few days before the release date and paid less. Yay!

Did you get your 3 posters?? I swear this is the greatest thing. Now sell them and the set will give you money back.
I just went back to FYE and scammed 3 more posters (sold 1st set for $32.50) and gonna sell them so all in all I will be getting net $29.50 back simply for buying the greatest DVD set in the history of the medium!!! Bottomline..go to FYE now! yay!!

I was at Target last night and they had TV showing ads for the Trilogy. Pretty cool. What wasn't cool was they played Vader saying "Luke, I am..."

I'm sure 95% of the general population could finish that line. But still, it would sure suck if you'd never seen the movies before.

Went into futureshop on Weds at the end of the day, they had around 10 copies left. Picked it up, no lines and no panic.
