Well, I'm going to keep mine and will watch it repeatedly (although not as much as ANH or ESB) but if you want to sell yours, give it away, run it through the shredder, turn it sideways and stick it up your ass, use it as a frisbee, etc, hey, more power to you.

Absolutely, positively NOT!!!.

While ROTJ may be the weakest of the Original Trilogy it is still better than Phantom Menace (IMO).

And even though I don't like Phantom Menace I still own it and will continue to do so.

And isn't there a slight chance that in the future, Lucas and Fox will release the individual films seperately? Fox did it the the Alien series, so they may do it with Star Wars as well. So, just maybe, it might be better to wait and not waste money or the time in selling unwanted discs now, but that's assuming that that will happen.

Just my 2 cents.

What a dumbass!!
I can't believe the idiot who started this stupid ass thread would rather have only 2 movies....and a big empty space in his DVD box set case.

If your going to buy this set, keep all 3 movies and the bonus features disc. (At least that's what I would do and any person with common sense who collects and watches movies)

While it's my least favorite of the three, I'll still keep it.

I think he could get about $12-15 for ROTJ and $8-10 for the bonus disc. As somebody else noted, many who are against the new versions might want to buy the bonus disc. Also, many in this thread alone are stating that ROTJ is their favorite movie in the trilogy. I bet quite a few people out there would be into just buying ROTJ sepesrately. As for the box, hell, sell that too. Im thinking $5 at least.

So, lets say $12 (ROTJ) + $8 (Bonus) + $5 (box) = $25

$40 (box set) - $25 (ebay money) = $15

$15 for ANH & ESB = $7.50 each NOT BAD!!!

Seems like a good idea to me.

(slowly sneaking out he back door of this thread before I get beat up)

I loved the movie and will not sell it.

Even if I did not love it, I would not sell it - it completes the 6 movie set.

Now, I could sell Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, but that is another story.

As you said, you can get the whole set of 4 discs for under $40. Why would someone pay you $15 for single discs in the set? Think about it... that would mean that there's someone out there who (a) wants the bonus disc but (b) doesn't want the movies themselves. Does that make any sense?

Or someone who wants to buy RotJ for $15, but has no interest in the other films? Again, I think the audience for that is pretty limited.

[That being said, I certainly understand your desire to not keep discs that you don't enjoy. If you honestly won't watch them again, definitely toss 'em... I just don't see you being able to pull in $20-30 for those 2 discs. There's no customer base for them.]
You took the words right out of my mind. But there may be one crazy person out that would pay that much for the movie or maybe will scratch their disk.

That's fine. It's a stand-alone movie and you can watch the other 2 without any problems.

Getting rid of ROTJ ends your viewing experience on a cliffhanger.

I'm this has been brought up already, but I'm not reading through 4 pages of people saying what a pointless thread this is (which it is, but I digress...).

The 3 films are a SERIES...not just random movies like Rocky 4 or Rocky 5. Jedi is the final chapter of the story. Would you own the first to LOTR films and not the third because you disliked it?

That's just stupid.

By the way, I just finished this book, but I didn't like the last 12 chapters so I'm removing them from the book and selling them...let me know if you're interested.

This might sound like total sacrilege to some people, but I did the same thing with my Alien Quadrilogy set. I bought it at Costco for $42 and then sold the bonus disc on ebay for $25, Aliens 3 (disc 5) for $12, and then the packaging for $17. I kept the films I wanted in slim cases, and I made a dollar or two.

Regardless, it's not about the money. It's about not giving a toss about the weakest film of the three. If I'm not going to watch it, why should I own it?
If it's this easy, why don't you go into business buying the sets and selling them for parts? Sounds like you could make descent money at it.

Guess what? I found out how this story ends over 20 years ago (albeit, the current version has the wonderful addition of Hayden Christiansen and the subtraction of Sebastian Shaw's eyebrows). I don't need ROTJ to BABYSIT my ANH and ESB DVDs. I'm a film fan, not a fanboy.

Anyone else planning on getting rid of their left kidney?

I never liked this organ and don't feel I need it as part of my urinary system. I plan on ebaying it to reduce the cost of my dialysis. I'll probably ditch the spleen too (after I wash it).

the only market I see for this is when video stores start selling off their rental copies. You KNOW they will sell them seperate. And somebody will find ANH and ESB and need ROTJ.

But if that is even true, why not just wait until this happens and buy them individually then? Why go through with the hassle now?

I wouldn't even sell Godfather 3 from that boxset. Selling ROTJ is unthinkable.

I am not a huge fan of Return of the Jedi, but I wouldn't ever get rid of it. It just feels unsolved when I finish watching Empire, I need to see Jedi afterwards otherwise I feel cheated.

Actually sticking it to the man would be not to buy it, and then buy it used. That is one sale he wouldn't be getting the first week of release.

Wait, how the heck are you going to sell just one disc out of the set? I guess there are some stupid people on eBay...and I suppose there's at least one weirdo in this world that only likes RotJ and not the other two in the trilogy. Hm...

The funny thing is, that if one where inclined to waste their time doing so, they could probably turn a profit by buying a few sets and then selling them off as seperates on e-bay.
