Or these Superbits:
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
The Mask of Zorro
The Fifth Element
Lawrence of Arabia
Desperado
Or
T2: Extreme Edition
The Fellowship of the Ring: Extended Edition
The Two Towers: Extended Edition
I would guess that the LOTR Extended Editions have full bitrate DTS since Jackson went first class with everything else, but how about the others?

So, full bitrate just isn't used at all anymore? Is there a discernable difference between full and half bitrate? (I realize that I am stepping into a minefield of opinions by asking this question. But someone might have some concrete evidence one way or the other.)

Great link, deluis.
As you said, Lizard, full-bitrate is rarely if ever used these days. As for any difference, if there is one, it is minor and some people may hear it, others won't, and some will hallucinate it.

Thanks for the link, deluis.

whenever I want to show off my system, I pop in Air Force One: Superbit and skip to the scene where the fuel plane explodes.

As with ALL audio quality discussions that happen in this forum, it is completely up to the equipment used by the person giving the opinion. I have been an advocate for some time now, that whenever anyone in this forum gives an opinion or review on a discs sound quality, they post their test system along with it. That way if they are using some $199 Sony HTIB system, the readers who know what they are talking about can pretty much discount their opinion as invalid.
As for me, I think there is a major difference between the two, but I have been working in the audio industry for many years and I personally have a $40,000+ home theater.

On topic: after watching Master and Commander last night I think that I will use that one to demonstrate my HT to visitors.
Off topic: deluis, Thanks for the list, that was just what I was looking for.
Green Jello, I know this is a hard question to answer in words, but what is it about full and half bitrate DTS that differs when you listen to them on your system?

Thanks for that link! Now I may have to finally pick up Dante's Peak (always been a Volcano fan myself, and wished it had a DTS like DP).
Die Hard 2 sounds pretty good as well, but so far, nothing that I have experienced has come close to Twister.

True, and your equipment is excellent, beats mine in most ways. But don't forget that the MOST important issue is the recording job. DTS and DD LDs were generally well done individually and specifically to take advantage of the codecs. DVD, while higher quality as a medium, is hit and miss on the studios. So many are just mixed and then thrown onto discs with DTS and/or DD.

Well, it is a discussion that is opening a giant can of worms of opinions. I completely disagree with Briks II. I think there is a major audible difference between half and full bit rate DTS DVDs. It is the full bit rates that originally established DTS to be the far superior format in the early days. It is now the half bit rate discs that make it so the majority of the world can't tell the difference between DTS and Dolby Digital.

I'd love to hear what a 40K system sounds like!
