Ahhh yes, Season 1 + 2...all a fan really needs.

This and "Futruama" will make the animation collection complete.

[Stimpy voiced girlish SHRIEK]Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah![/Stimpy voiced girlish SHRIEK] Joy! Muddy Mudskipper would be pleased!

I can't wait. I also avoided the TL version because the video quality was supposed to suck. I hope Paramount does a nice job with this - similiar to their treatment of South Park would be more than acceptable IMO.

Suffice it to say, this release is on my calendar!

Ren And Stimpy on DVD, uncut, fantastic. I hope we end up getting the other seasons, I see no reason why this shouldn't sell well though. I remember the newer episodes on Spike TV were hilarious.

You must be the only one to like the Spike TV episodes because i remember alot of people on here hated the show.

Shocking "potty" humor and making them gay isnt a substitute for the loss of the wacky humor of the orginal series.

Ewwwww. The Spike show was so godawful that I had to shoot my TV halfway through.

The "classics," on the other hand, I'd sell my uncle for, and now that I've preordered them I'll be sitting out by my mailbox until October sometime.

Hayden Christensen has been digitally inserted as Muddy Mudskipper.

Nova, you may have to reschedule the suicide now.

Okay, I can't recall every seeing this - other than the Happy Happy Joy Joy theme anyway - can someone give me an idea of the theme/tone and anything it might compare to to give me an idea if I might like it?

The cover art is definitely cool.

I don't know if there is anything else out there that you could compare Ren & Stimpy to.

If you like offbeat humor then R&S is your thing...but there isnt any other animated show thats quite like this one.

The cover art is definitely cool.
R&S is, despite its scatology and its appeal to precocious 9 to 10 year-old boys, quite simply the best traditional animation of the past decade. By this, I mean that the characterization of the two principals is so involved - for what are basically rather minimalist puppets - that you actually come to believe in the main characters' reality, which is Stimpy's profound stupidity and mushiness and Ren's irascible temper and deviousness. It harks back to the traditional Punch and Judy Show and Commedia del arte. Simply unforgettable... simply the very best!

TVShowsOnDVD is reporting that the set isn't actually uncut as there are some episodes that contain cuts.

I was going to order this but now what are the odds that this will get released again at some point to correct this? John K's explanation saying there were cuts after he stopped watching the show and he didn't know about them seems odd as I thought it was said the S1&S2 were all his (minus a couple towards the end).

I think the odds of it being released again, without cuts, is fairly low. John K even said in the announcement that in the event that the lost footage was found, he would probably either post it on his website or air it on Spike TV. No mention of additional releases.

Well... once again certain New York stores are selling this early. I found it last Friday. I haven't gotten through the whole thing yet, but the transfers from what I've seen look great. There's also a great little doc featuring John K. which is great in explaining at least the origins of the characters. I'm actually in the process of putting together an animated series right now with a few other folks, and some of what John had to go through is inspirational and informative. He said that it took 9 years to get the show on the air. I hope it doesn't take us that long. All in all, a great collection.
