So since no clerk asked me for help while browsing the horror section. I did not bother raising some hell about the dvd release. Yet a clerk did ask me,once I was in the action section and what joy,the R rated butchured to hell version of Itchi:The Killer was on the shelf.

So naturally I decided to ask curiously if they had the unrated version? The clerk was confused,so I showed him the R Rated sticker on the top of the case and said "There are two versions" and he 'got it'. So as usualy,he bolts over to 'search the system',aka looking up BB.com.

He then comes back with "I am sorry,we only carry this edition in stores. I asked "Why? Your website has both versions, who why not carry both in store?"...he was stumped and said "I know, but we only stock this edition in store"...but would not state the reason why. I mention this version of the film is worthless and basically said "Thanks for nothing,no money from me today"...as I walked out of the store
Totally off-topic, but are you the former "Info Club Poobah" of a certain popular TV show?

After ordering an SS edition online last night from Best Buy for in-store pickup and getting an "unavailable" reply, I thought it was a bit fishy.

So I ordered one again this morning. About half an hour later I got a notice that it was ready for pick up!

And it was!

Haha guys I didn't really say "Thanks for nothing",but I had that expression of disappointment on my face as I left after saying "ok thanks" not sounding to happy, and the clerk was realizing they just lost a sale

See I am not that rude

Anyone in Phoenix, it looks like all the best buys' here put it on the floor on Thurs.

On weds, I checked the inventories, but no store had it. I even checked one store physically, but they didn't have it out. Then Thursday, I checked again just for the hell of it, and lo, it was in stock at almost every store in the phoenix area. I went to the same store as before and bought one.

You know, it almost seems like this should be a Bargains thread too -- don't you think the 14.99 price is an error? I mean, they have some info mixed up with the BU Zombi on their website, so I bet they've priced it thinking its the BU.

I ordered through the BB website for in-store pick-up today. I just got the confirmation e-mail, so I'll be picking mine up from BB on my way home tonight!

I just hope it's really the 2-discer and not the 1-discer!

how long does it take for DDD to respond to a price match? I sent one yesterday morning and still haven't heard anything.

Do we know for sure whether the SS version actually has the commentary or not yet? In one of the previous posts there was some question about this.

Thanks,

For Zombi 2 I received it within a day or so. But last time I price matched Escape from NY it took them 11 (!!!) days to send me the comfirmation mail. You never know.

I watched an hour of mine last night, and perused the menus of disc 1. It definitely has a commentary by whatshisname -- its listed on the menu, and its available as audio track 7 as you flip through the various audio tracks (there are so many! E5.1, I5.1, E2.0, I2.0, Emono, Imono, commentary). However I didn't listen to any of the commmentary, though I am curious to see if its the same one from the Anchor Bay or whether they recorded a new one (how many commentaries can that guy have in him? On the AB disc he could barely remember anything about the movie at all, if memory serves me). I did watch some of one new feature on disc one - an interview with the dude who plays the chubby zombie on the boat in the beginning -- and the interview was far longer than his screen time in the movie!

I was very impressed with the image, and can't imagine how BU could be much better than this. I am extremely happy with the quality, the features, the packaging, etc etc.

EXACTLY what ive been thinking and i was just getting ready to post, i think this is almost certainly a misprice. i think the retail is 29.95. when has BB carried a DVD such as this at a whopping 50% off? i think the BU confusion has definitely given us a better price than we were supposed to get. should have been at least 19.95 if not 22.95 or even 24.95.

SS Zombi 2, disc 2 problem?

Rats!! Disc 2 of my SS version will not load properly in 2 of my players. My JVC XV-M567 and Cyberhome 500 cannot load it. Oddly, it loads fine on my Sampo 620 (which is normally the pickiest of the bunch) and on my PC player. Disc 1 loads up just fine on all. Anyone who has the SS version encounter any problems with disc 2 yet?
Thanks!

sounds like somebody took the train to crankyville this morning! dont you know that web sites and the actual store vary to what they have? just cause its on the site doesnt mean the store will have it/i think it would be better off to just get the in store pick up after ordering it from the site

OK, here's an update to my previous post about disc 2 of the SS version not loading in a couple of my players. I took it back to Best Buy today and exchanged it. The new discs work just fine in all of my players. One thing I did notice about the finicky first disc 2 I had was that the artwork on the disc itself had some faint lines running though it as if someone dragged a comb over it while it was coming off the press.

Those were scratches.... from the fingernails.... of a zombie that was found roaming the pressing plant. Reports say authorities eventually captured it but the zombie never made it to the laboratory for tests. All they found was an empty police car... with pools of blood in the front seat.

The zombie wants his disc back.... you were the one that bought it.

....and he will find you... oh yes, he WILL find you....

Mhwhahahahahaha!

TomOpus,

Yes, that would single-handedly explain my bum disc as well as SS's tardiness in getting the blasted dvd out! The zombie'll never find me. I have to tell the crew the boat can leave now......

Went to Best Buy tonight.

SS not on shelf, clerk goes into the back, gets one, shows it to me, then tells me it won't be released until the 27th of August.

I cudda killed him. Best Buy employees get a thrill out of being jerks, I know it.

I would have asked for a manager. as far as i know, the date in the Best Buy system is now JULY 27th. i think the idiot worker mistook 7-27 as Aug 27th. at the very least, the original date was Aug 3rd, which is also over. Aug 27th isnt even a Tuesday. you should have challenged.
