I have all of them. I usually just preorder them as they're announced and am pleasantly surprised when they show up. I haven't watched all of them yet (nearly there), but I can say that I have only been disappointed by a select few. I know that a lot of people in this forum offer criticism toward those of us who buy the DVDs just because of the Criterion name, and to be honest, there was a time when I would have agreed with you. But this company has proven itself time and again with release after release of outstanding caliber, that I have grown to trust their releases, whether or not I'm familiar with the film.

I have to agree with boogie. Criterion is a great company for producing great DVDs with great extras becuase of the preservationist attitude they exert toward all their films. But are all their films worth having? Maybe not.

However, I enjoy their product and moderation is always good since its not just the case you want but the thrill and awe of watching a great film or that one great scene that you just can't live without watching once and a while. Many of my Criterions come from my memories of watching these films as a preteen or teenager with both my parents encouraging me to use my imagination, be it Gone With The Wind or Godzilla.

My collection (I have a passion for Hitchcock, Lean, and Powell & Pressberger you'll see):

1. Grand Illusion
3. The Lady Vanishes
7. A Night To Remember

The only two I have are

The Rock
Armaggedeon

Those are the only two I have any interest in except maybe Chasing Amy, but I have that one on Laser.I would not mind Robocop, but I dont think they even offered it with a DTS track, where it was available on on of the other previous releases, and Im sorry but Id rather have the movie in DTS than a Criterion in Dolby Surround.

Is there a reason you bought them all up to 73 and then stopped? No need to answer if the reason is too personal; I'm just curious.

Oh, those weren't spine numbers on my list. They were just... counting numbers. Sorry for any confusion.

Good question though. I mean, why would someone buy only the first group of these. And especially as curious a number as 73...

Somehow, I feel like I missed an opportunity to make up a really great story here. If someone else would like to do it for me, feel free.

Did the Criterion of Robocop have a DTS or DD 5.1 track or is it just DD surround?

Robocop did (and still does) only have a Dolby surround track, and it's non-anamorphic. But it's still good.
