Jurassic Park Replacement Disc Still Going?

Everyone seems to be getting their discs in a reasonable amount of time. Guess I'm the exception. Sent my defective disc on December 20th, called on February 4th for an update, was told it will be shipped tomorrow and to allow four business days. Over two weeks later, it arrived yesterday on February 19th - with an invoice indicating it was actually shipped on the 12th.
Over 8 weeks total. (Please tell me this won't be the response time for the Back to the Future exchanges.) Glad I finally have the corrected version though.

Thanks to a kind poster at another forum, I was directed to this thread. I just purchased this disc at a local retailer today and unflrtunately it was the defective disc.
Ahh well, according to him, he just got a replacement this past Tuesday.
I will be sending mine back on Monday. Thanks to all the posters here for posting the address, phone # and info.
Cheers!

Wow, I am glad I bumped into this site and signed up! I had no idea about this Jurassic Park issue. I didn't even have to look at mine, with my luck I knew it would be defective. Figures. Thanks, guys for all the info about this, I will send it Monday.
Is there a place in this forum to look up other recalls?

Its too bad some people have the defective Jurassic Park and will never know because they they weren't fortunate enough to find this thread. I had mine for at least a year, always hating the DTS soundtrack, and only learned about the problem because it was mentioned during the whole Back to the Future misframing controversey.

Sorry, to bring up an OLD thread, but I finally picked this up, and now I'm not sure waht I have. My top sticker says "Jurassic Park (WS) (DTS)", but the specs are in a BLACK box, not a RED box, and there is neither a "D2R1" OR "D2R2" on the inner ring, just "PEMC". Anybody care to comment on what they think I have?

imp66,
You might not have the defective one, the only way to be sure is to try out the DTS track on it. If it sounds like crap, its a bad disc.
Or you could contact Universal and see what they say about PEMC discs.

Hey KKnight, or anybody else in Canada. Did you send it to this address?
Universal Home Video
c/o Jurassic Park Exchange Program
PO Box 224468
Dallas, TX
75260
And if so, how long did it take to get a new one back?
I can't believe there are still old discs floating around. Got it from Columbia House.
Is this also the address to send the disc in even if you are not in the US?

I bought a copy from DDD and I recieved the defective version. This shows that no one from DDD actually visits DVDtalk. This is a warning to anyone planning to buy it from DDD.

Am I the only one who thinks we need a sticky thread to cover all similar issues like this.
Over the past 3-4 years, the studios have been rushing DVDs to the market, and they are laden with defects. Only those film fanatics, such as us, even notice (or become aware of) these issues and communicate to others in forums such as here.
I have probably contacted studios for close to 20 DVDs over the past few years. An incomplete list of DVDs with issues:
Back to the Future Trilogy
Jurassic Park DTS
Jackie Brown
Dinotopia
Various James Bond 007 films (Octopussy, Never Say Never Again, Living Daylights)
E.T. Giftset (not a defect, but a deficiency in the set that the studio addressed)
Leon: The Professional
As this thread has encountered, many people do not realize the issue until many months (or years) later. I had a heck of a time searching for "E.T." in this forum.
I know there was a thread of known defects created a year or 2 ago, but I do not know where it is or if it has been kept up to date.

Anyone else use this lately....????? I think I have the defective disc at home, but never bothered to replace it. Is there an e-mail address I can ask?
I watched Part 3 the other night on TV, so I got curious about this again....
I'm hoping I can still get a replacement disc for it...
Thanks

Hopefully, they're still replacing the defective discs....if not, I can try to return it back to CH and see if I get the corrected version.

Replacement Disc Still Going
My friend just got his back from the states in Sydney, It took about 6 weeks to come back by mail.
I can't believe shops are still selling the old discs still brand new.
I know the faulty Back To The Future Sets are still being sold on the net on most online shops still.
I have emailed 4 different chains regarding the "V2" versions but none of these shops have the proper Back To The Future Sets still. ...BMatt

Is it worth me trying to get them to send me the disc to England?
If there sent it to Australia why not England.
Send it to the address below:
Universal Home Video
c/o Jurassic Park Exchange Program
P.O. Box 224468
Dallas, TX 75260
USA
Don't forget to send the DVD disc only.

Was it just the first movie or all three? I bought the DTS set when it first came out and was really disappointed in it.
