From page 2 of this very thread:

Some listeners have noticed that the initial release of the Jurassic Park-DTS DVD differs in bass level from other home-video versions. While every effort is made to maintain accuracy and consistency across various releases, source and process issues sometimes lead to differences which are noticeable in direct comparisons.

Universal Studios Home Video strives to ensure customer satisfaction, and accordingly has implemented a running change for this title, using the original master soundtrack. The earlier production run can be identified by the code number D2R1 on the inside hub. The newer, current version can be identified by the code D2R2 and will contain a red technical grid on the back of the packaging as part of the running change.

Consumers who have purchased the "D2R1" discs will have the option of making an exchange. Please send in the disc only (without packaging), along with name, address and telephone number, to: Universal Studios Home Video, PO Box 224468, Dallas TX 75260 or Universal Studios Home Video, 8801 Autobahn Drive, Dallas, TX 75237.

Please note: This offer for exchange applies only to the DTS version of Jurassic Park.

I know that. But it is saud that the newer version is D2R2. That's why I wrote here. My DVD shows what I put above. So is it the correct pressing?

friend..you got the right one..this is the latest pressing..to make yourself more comfortable put your disc in a DVDROm and the file should be dated Nov instead of Jun..Sorry I cannot remember the year..I went through so much effort to get mine so I understand your anxiety.

enjoy !

Just discovered that I have the defective DTS Jurassic Park. Has anyone done the exchange recently? Is the address still good and everything?

Thanks!

I quickly scanned the Thread and found this number you can try, but it seems like a lot of people have had no reply from the message service.

You can always go to universal website and find an email address if you have a worries if the replacements are still going.

Call 972-293-5903 to be sure, or send disc to

Universal Home Video
c/o Jurassic Park Exchange Program
PO Box 224468
Dallas, TX 75260

If you do send it in don't forget to send the disc only and not the case.

Cheers, ...BMatt

Thanks for this thread. I just bought Jurrasic Park WS DTS on Saturday because it is so hard to find. Before I opened the movie, I realized I had bought the wrong version. I brought back the movie unopened claiming that I did not want it and immediately found another one with a red grid on the back. All of this saved me the hassle of sending it in for a replacement.

Just wanted to let anyone concerned know that this offer is still valid. My corrected DVD arrived this afternoon. Response from Universal was very quick (less than 10 days).

I was just wondering if anyone knows how I can check if the disc is either the new one or the defective one without looking at the disc itself, I've been meaning to buy this DVD for a while now. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

In most cases, a red box surrounds all the features and specs on the back of the box of the new disc. when i got it at best buy a few months ago, thats what i was looking for. But When i got home, saw that it was the defective disc and had to exchange. So, I guess that the red box isn't a garuntee.

Unfortunately, the only sure way to tell is by the 'D2R2' marking on the disc itself.

Any sugestions how can I manage to the correct one _at_once_?

I mean, I live in Latvia, and let's say I get the 'bad' version...

Ordered from Amazon - it's about 2 weeks (they got a DC in Germany, so in Europe they send all the stuff from there now).

Find it defective and send it to USA for replacement - it's about 4 weeks (at best)...

They send the replacement back - it's another 4 weeks....

And add some time (a couple of weeks?) for them to 'hurry up'...

So much of "fun" (3 months of waiting at least)!

Does anybody know which online shops have got the 're-pressed' versions for 100%...?

I can't reach the number for some reason ( I get a local number and not the support line). Would it be safe to just send it in to the address mentioned above? Is this even still going on?

I was in Best Buy today and saw the DTS version with the red grid. Upon inspecting the disc I saw no "D2R2". There was also no insert included. I think this is the corrected disc because Univeral has been phasing out inserts for their catalog titles.

I sent mine in after getting no response thru e-mail about 2 weeks ago. I received the new one about 10 days later.

Update: I got a response from Universal after I e-mailed them. They asked for my address, I gave it, and just a few days ago I mailed a pre-paid envelope with my JP DVD inside. I should be getting my replacement in the next few week.s

Short answer: The replacement gig is still very much up and running. Props to Universal Customer Service.

Just bought a new one at BB today (DTS version). It has neither the D2R2 or DSR1 markings on the disk spindle. Has this been done away with?

Oh, they just got these in and had 6 on the shelf. My old one was DSR1. It had an insert inside.

Did you mean D2R1? It's the uncorrected version.

Sorry for posting in an old thread, but this seemed to be the best place.

Does anyone have the UPC's handy for JP 1 & 2 that came with the trilogy?

Need them for an ebay dispute, thanks!

I gotta bump this thread because I have a question regarding the file dates. I just picked up JP DTS at best buy and there is no red grid on the technical specs, and the files are dated november.
On the discs ring it has BB207871R2SP0
is this the corrected version? Hopefully the R2 in that code means it is. (crosses fingers)

Do the Amazon.com ship the corrected version now? I'd like to order one, but I need to know for sure because they said wouldn't replace it (I'm outside US)...

I just called and spoke to a man who said the disc replacement is still going on, but the zip code is "75222" now, not 75260. I recently picked this used dvd up from work and it turns out its the bad version, so I guess I will send it out.
