Hello kstublen,

I have had very good service with Amazon.co.uk. Every order has arrived very fast and damaged free. I was unhappy with one of my orders (10 SteelBooks) and Amazon.UK allowed me to return the entire order, hassle free and they even paid the return shipping cost.

I prefer Amazon.co.uk over HMV.co.uk, as their prices tend to be cheaper, especially, their shipping rates.

Good luck to you.

Thanks for your response. Wasn't sure about ordering a steelbook online, 'cause it's susceptible to damage. But if it does come damaged, it's good to know they'll likely help me with it.

Gonna order The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, thanks again!

uk definitive edition and cinema reserve steelbooks

I would be cautious when ordering definitive edition steelbooks, a lot of them have now been replaced by those slip sleeves but with the same cover design. If you read some of the reviews on amazon people have complained about this. It is true because i have seen the slip cover replacements in the stores.

It also appears that the cinema reserve range of steelbooks (20th century fox) are starting to do the same. They start off as steelbooks, but end up as regular dvds. I ordered the fly and it was a steelbook, so they are still around.

So glad about this release of T2, i ordered the japanese extreme edition 2 weeks ago and there was no progress with it.. i asked customer service what was happening and they told me to 'be patient.' So i wasn't too happy when it was cancelled this morning.. So this steelbook will be my conciliation prize.

Guns Girls & Gasoline Steelbook

Released yesterday the 25th August 2008, Play.com £25.99, HMV.com
£29.99.
Titles are: Snatch/Fast & The Furious/Easy Rider/Into The Blue/Bank Job: 5dvd: Box Set: Steelbook.
No Artwork released on the website, and looked in Zaavi and HMV today but no copies on sale yet, usually have to order.
Amazon uk are saying that the box set is a 6 disc set with Crank and DOA intstead of Bank Job, but they don't say its a steelbook and looking at the HMVC website they say its the 5 disc set and then say that there are 6 films same as Amazon.uk.
Confusing, wish they could all agree.
I will be ordering a copy and will report on here when I get my copy which version it is.

Greatest Ever Urban Steelbook

This was supposed to be a new Uk steelbook released on the 25th August.
HMV.com are showing it as released but back in stock in 7 days but Play.com and Amazon are showing it as now being released on the 29th September 2008.
They at least agree on the films this time which are DO THE RIGHT THING, 8 MILE, BOYZ 'N THE HOOD, LOCKDOWN, and GRIDLOCK'D.

Hi All,

My first post on this forum.

I have just recently found out about steelbook DVD & Blu-ray cases. I am now very interested, but only in English text releases.

I have just ordered my first five:-

from EzyDvd Australia
Team America: World Police DVD LE
War Of The Worlds 2-Disc Set DVD LE

from Future Shop Canada (thanks to incredipinoy)
Iron Man 2-Disc Ultimate Edition Blu-ray LE
Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull 2-Disc Set Blu-ray LE

from Amazon UK
The Godfather Trilogy: Remastered Collection - 5 Disc Set DVD LE
Beowulf 2-Disc DVD LE

I realise this is the beginning of an expensive hobby, but don't you just love it?

I am very interested in getting The Fly UK release. Anyone know where I can get it from? Cheers

This might be it...though you are better off emailing Amazon to double-check:

Thanks for the info snausages. Didn't think to search for Cinema Reserve, and it didn't register when I searched "steelbook".

I have sent them an e-mail asking for confirmation, although the customer pics certainly look like a steelbook. Its a great looking cover!

howwon,

Any idea how many units are issued in the Cinema Reserve series. I think that it may be 8000, but not too sure. 8000 seems to be a number that I have come across in my searches

WOW, how did you arrive at 8000?

If I had to guess, I would say 15-20 Cinema Reserve SteelBooks.

cinema reserve steelbooks

I'm not sure how many steelbook editions are made of each release, but i think the number you gave (fly 009) does not represent it being the ninth copy of all the fly steelbooks. I have the fly steelbook and mine is also 009. I'm not sure if each cinema reserve steelbook has an individual number. I think the 009 means it is number nine in the cinema reserve series.

I recently got the cinema reserve steelbooks 'lifeboat' (005) and 'all about eve' (003).. Both very good.

Cinema Reserve Steelbooks

The number released to date is 17 in this series, nuymber 1 being The Day The Earth Stood Still and number 17 being Some Like It Hot.
I have all 17 titles and I have a list of all 109 UK steelbooks released to date.
Excluding the Wrestling Steelbooks which I do not collect.
Some sites show a Cleopatra, Titanic and Magnificent Seven Cinema Reserve releases but these were never issued.
I think this is my 15th post so will happily post a picture from my collection, of any of the steelbooks if you want to see what they should look like.
