Well, the good news is the new lenticular releases are in the form of slipcovers (with newly redesigned cover art underneath), the bad news is it's all aesthetic. None of these DVDs looks to be anything other than a repackaging of existing single disc releases (and i was wrong, the Robocop DVD is not the rare unrated version, it's rated R).

So, most of us probably already have these single disc versions or better yet, we have superior 2 disc versions and have no use for these fly-by-night wanna-bes. But they do look nice...The steelbooks, on the other hand, are all double disc sets and seem to be fairly comprehensive, but again, offer nothing that we haven't seen already in previous releases, just new fancy packaging...here's the list again, get them at Best Buy and Circuit City...

Regardless of who buys these or not, the Lenticular ones do belong on the list as they are all slip covers and fit our defination...thanks Vale..

Hey, to go along with the Bill Murray "Meatballs" rerelease is another one of the greatest movies of the 80's...."Major League - The Wild Thing Edition" featuring an "artificial turf" slip cover. It's very cool (see below)...

On a side note..those steelbook 2 disc sets are very cool...and for you X-men fans, grab the Best Buy exclusive "X-men 1.5" steelbook (if anyone can't find any that they want, let me know and i'll pick you up one...Costco has them for $14.99)...happy shopping.

Finding Nemo definately comes in a slipcase.

For the most part, slipcases are usually First Issue only. The longer a DVD is in release, the less chance the original slipcase is still available with it. You could luck out tho and find an older title with SC still attached.

Wow, good catch gecco. The Wild Thing edition came out in April but i honestly never saw the "Turf" sc til this month....my bad.

Interesting isn't it...Fantastic Four comes out a week earlier with your basic vanilla slipcover just reproducing the DVD case art. Circuit City did offer a nice bonus disc but that was it for the fanfare....20th C. Fox dropped the ball..

Now here comes Johnny Blaze....with 4 completely distinct slipcovers in the same week (and i have them all)..is this a record, Vale? Most slipcovers for the same special edition? Ghost Rider deserves his own thread for this one....

Disney is notorious for yanking them quickly. the best way to catch Disney / Buena Vista slipcovers is in rerelease (like Toy Story 1 and 2 are pretty easy to find right now with slipcovers...same with Bugs Life). I always loved the Finding Nemo holofoil cover that looked like you were under water. I just got it from ebay so i'll be revising my list again. Has anybody sprung for the new lenticular single disc covers? They look nice but really hold nothing....now the steelbooks, i can't say enought nice things about those.

so if i order Finding Nemo online from amazon.com now it won't come with the slipcase?

I think Superman Returns may beat out Ghost Rider in terms of different slipcases.

Probably not. You can either search ebay for a "complete" package for Nemo (discs, case & slipcover intact) OR call Buena Vista Home Video customer service and ask nicely if they have any left in stock. It worked for me a few years back and I got slipcovers for Lion King 1 1/2, Mary Poppins and Jet Li's Hero in one shot.

Never hurts to ask.

Amazon has become way too big to accomodate detailed questions like that..Ebay is headed that way too...i'm so tired of all the huge ebay stores (which are all Amazon wanna be's). Ebay started out with this nice communal, flea market, swap meet vibe and now it's just as cold as any other Borders or Best Buy.

My advice, which is how i got my sealed Nemo with slipcover is set up a filtered search (with reminders whenever a new listing appears), then any user that posts an actual picture (not stock), you email them and ask specifically about the slipcover. I've found 2 out of 10 usually have it, put then remind them when you pay to include the slipcover in the shipment. And be specific with your questions, remember my crappy "Van Helsing" metal slipcover that had the name of the store stamped on the spine..totally useless now. The holofoil Nemo slipcover is one of the nicer ones i've seen..so good luck.

PS, i'm amassing quite a collection of extra sc's so if anybody has something they just can't find, let me know, i might have it or know where one is...

Mine are the same as in this post. I've completely forgot to look for others wanted slips since then though I'm nearly certain I haven't seen your wanted three.

"Confidence" and "The Descent" i might be able to find...i'll check this week and let you know....
