yeah, i remember we would get older catalog titles and double-dips weeks before, and the manager would usually just put em out. then we would get guys bringing them up to the counter sayin "uh, isnt this supposed to come out in a couple of weeks?"...he would alwaysreply "uh, yeah, they pushed the release date up"...i also remember getting Chapelle's Show season 1 ten days before it was supposed to come out...

Appleseed Ex Machina

Hmm, the direct to dvd feature comes out 3/11 in single-disc and double-disc versions...

The 2-Disc looks to be a Steelbook...

Look at the picture amazon has...

http://www.amazon.com/Appleseed-Ex-M...4514204&sr=8-1

Click on the picture to see the the rounded corners...

Looks like a Steelbook to me...

They were posted posted on this thread late last year.

I posted the steelbook release news back on 11/27/07. The small cover art was posted on 12/17/07. The larger cover art was posted on 12/27/07.

BestBuy.com currently has this for $22.99 (preorder) along with a free ID Book. It should be the same price B&M once it hits the street date. TWEC stores currently offer a free poster if you preordered before the street date (I believe it's for any Appleseed: Ex Machina release).

Dune has been reported and verified in this thread. the 1st post also includes both a Viva and Steelbook (Best Buy) versions.

Just FYI, the Border's by my house has the Steelbook version as well, that's where I got mine, so maybe it isn't just BB...

From the previous posts above about Dune...

Does this mean now.. that the VIVA Metal Pack of DUNE is RARE/Discontinued? now that the one who presently distribute the said Movie is under "Steelbook" packaging?

xage,

Viva no longer offers their metal cases, as it infringes on Steelbook's patent.

They originally did DUNE with Universal Pictures but had to stop due to legal issues. Universal Pictures switched to Steelbook but did not have time to create any inner artwork.

Viva first introduced DUNE in 2005 and Universal Pictures switched to Steelbook in 2006.

At this point, I would say that the Viva packaging is more valuable, as it is now OOP, discontinued and unauthorized.

i saw the Viva packaging the other day at a Best Buy. actually compared it to the SteelBook. so they are out there still. liked the SteelBook better, but i got the Viva and i'll stick with it for such a bad movie imo.

For those Canadian out there, I spotted X-men 2 and Die Hard steelbook at HMV for 2/$25 (previously 2/$30).. Are there any differences in the Die Hard steelbook there were general releases and the Bestbuy US/FutureShop exclusives?
Thanks

Die Hard (June 5, 2007 release)

Die Hard (November 20, 2007 release)

From my observation, the front covers are slightly different, both in colour and artwork. The rear paper insert are the same except for the UPC.

Thanks Howwon...

Yeah, I rechecked their site again.. and just found out that since that incident.. they are now producing different type of "Metal" packaging..

Hmm.. Im interested with their... Metal Slipcase?

Though.. they were contracted by WB with its Superman Boxset & Forbiden Planet boxset

Reading Steelbook's Press Release on Steelbook:G2

http://steelbook.com/pressroom/g2.pdf

Looks like the Smackdown VS RAW from PS3 (And Exclusively from GAMESTOP/EBGAMES) is confirmed the very 1st Steelbook:G2 to invade North America!

*The first one was Blu Ray's Pan's Labyrynth in Europe?
