I guess you didnt get what I mean--The Departed is not readily available, while the Bourne Ultimatum is. If I spend that much for a single dvd, it would be for one that's not available everywhere. I'm going to return mine, because I got it for $21, which is a little better.

The Departed and The Bourne Ultimatum, are both readly available in Canada and The USA, as Future Shop and Best Buy USA exclusives. Each with their own extra disc.

I would like to ask if you purchased the movie because you wanted to see it or as a collector. Steelbooks that are not readily available or OOP, generally command a much higher price than what you paid for The Bourne Ultimatum. Pirates 2 and the Little Mermaid are two examples of where the final bid price both exceeded $100.00. Pirates 2 came very close to touching $200.00.

Did you buy it new or used? If you bought it new, how did they scan it?

I wouldn't worry about what other people may think about your purchase habits. I bought a copy, the day after it was released from a US seller and I could care less if people wanted to heckle me.

Did you removed the FYE Pricetag? the UPC is located there...

On my last trip down to WA, I picked Dragon Wars steelbook up.. Seems to have sold bit better than I was lead to believe when I was down before it was released.. There was just 2 / 10 copies left.. $19.99 and less 10% w/ BSP.. Traded in some DVDs and took it out the store for under $5..

I just checked.. No UPC on the back.. My sticker has 043396249523 as the UPC code..

i guess i just don't understand the collecting for collector's sake. if you have no interest in a movie, then why the heck buy it? if you are hesitant to buy something just because it doesn't have collectible value, but love the movie than i think that is just bizarre. i mean even to just have it for collecting sake doesn't make too much sense because typically you won't sell it, so who cares if it is not readily available. you have it, like it, and it's in your collection and that should be enough. no need to brag, worry about its value, just keep it and enjoy the heck out of it.

jPoD_TGN 01-13-08 02:52 AM

I loved the Bourne Ultimatum. It has nothing to do with collecting Steelbooks. I wouldnt mind collecting them for collecting, but I wouldnt pay that kind of money for a movie I have no interest in. It just so happened that I loved Bourne and that a Steelbook came out for it.

right, but why are you annoyed that it is readily available? you love the movie, you love the steelbook, shouldn't that be enough?

jPoD_TGN 01-13-08 05:13 PM

I'm done explaining it. It's giving me a headache. Just forget about it, scott.

what he's trying to say is that he's on a limited budget, he doesn't want to pay $26 for a brand new movie that he can go to any best buy and get. If he's going to spend that much money on a movie, it's gonna be on one that is not as readily available. It has nothing to do with collecting them hoping they'll be worth something, just the fact that he is on a budget.

jPoD_TGN 01-13-08 09:32 PM

That'll do. Thanks prozac!

db27 posted in Bargins Forum TWEC is getting a Beowulf steelbook.. I think what he means as the box insert is the empty boxes with the UPC code to scan in for pre-orders..

No solicitations FutureShop for the movie, so have to see if this is the second US only R1 exclusive steelbook..

Beowulf

Contacted SunCoast (TransWorld Store) , asked if they were going to have the Beowulf steelbook, the lady said they were going to have the theatrical version and a director's cut but no steelbook. I asked if they had a promotional pre-order for it, she said no. And also today steelbook shows up on the FutureShop website. (Picture on preveous post) I am hopping the lady I talked to is wrong, but I would also like for someone to post a flyer or more info about TWC having the steelbook.

Ok, Ill go to Suncoast tomorrow and force a pre-order because the infamous db27 has already confirmed the twec steelbook for beowulf from the following post

I wouldn't worry too much, as to whether or not TWE will be getting a Beowulf Steelbook or not. You can always get one from a Canadian seller. There is already a Canadian eBay seller, pre-selling this Steelbook.

Neil M. 01-20-08 12:56 PM

I'm glad to see Beowulf is getting a steelbook. I'm not big on the billingual cover though. It's not too bad compared to others but I'd rather it not be there.

I really wish they'd start releasing more steelbooks in the U.S. It's pretty obvious looking at ebay that some people are willing to spend a pretty penny for these things. I'm guessing the cost of steelbooks isn't right for the U.S. market yet.

i don't think that is it at all. $19.99-22.99 is the most i've seen them here which is less than what they sell in Canada for.

Neil M. 01-20-08 08:16 PM

I'm sorry, I meant the cost to produce steelbooks. i was making the point that people in the U.S. are willing to pay big bucks for foreign steelbooks. They could easily produce a limited quantity for the U.S. and charge the right amount to make a good profit. But why should a studio release a steelbook when they can get us to buy the regular keepcase version for just about the same price, right?

Kory 01-20-08 10:47 PM

I am sure if "Beowulf" gets a TWEC U.S. release like it is rumored to be getting, the cover will not be bilingual.
