Hello. I think this is a steelbook, at least that's what it says on the inside cover. You can see it in the pics. Also, the spin and the opening recessed area appear to be the same as my other steelbook.

Location is Futureshop.

ok. just seems odd that a different company would put out virtually the exact same book.

It has been reported that Warner Home Video will be releasing a 2-Disc Steelbook Collector's Edition (R1) of Appleseed: Ex Machina. The release date (like the high def and the DVD only releases) will be on 3/11/08. However the cover art for this steelbook has not been revealed yet.

I just noticed that Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society: Limited Edition (Steelbook) is not listed under Steelbook and Viva R1 US DVDs on the 1st post.

The first movie is by Geneon and they are no longer in business you might want to get it before it's go completely OOP. I personally enjoyed watching Appleseed. If you like this type of action and animation, you may enjoy it too. Here are two DVDTalk reviews, one on the standard edition and the other on the collector's edition (steelbook). Appleseed: Ex Machina is the sequal to the first movie. As stated before, it won't be released until 3/11/08. Here is an English trailer of Appleseed: Ex Machina provided by IGN:

Wow, thanks for the trailer. Looks amazing. I always enjoy this kind of action / science fiction type movie!
Going to check out if Best Buy has it in stock.

Definitely worth getting!

I remember a couple of years back that I even bought the standard release because its too mesmerizing to open this limited steelbook giftset!

Back then, its a 50/50 chance one gets a mint condition casing because most release has the action figure loose from its blister pack. And whats weird despite the reported problem, most retail stores went sold out within its release date.

For me, this is probably the rarest steelbook release in Region 1

My 3 Main Reasons!

1. It is the first Steelbook released in R1

2. The Giftset itself is Limited and #d out of 8000

3. GENEON (The manufacturer) is DEAD!

I opened mine up, there wasn't a way that I will let the figure left inside the packaging. I actually upgrade my copy from steelbook to this release just to get the figurine. I got it sometime before the Geneon announcement (B1G1 sale @ Suncoast). I didn't even know that was the first R1 steelbook.

Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow (Deluxe Edition)

There is one more anime steelbook to add to the list of Steelbook and Viva R1 US DVDs. This was released earlier this month on 11/13/07.

It has been reported by other anime fans in another forum that this is a steelbook. And I have seen this at my local Best Buy and Suncoast as well. The spine side looks excactly like a steelbook. The setup should be like the steelbook for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society (2 DVDs and a movie soundtrack). I gonna see if I can find a better picture proof of it.

Futureshop Steelbooks

Would anyone be willing to pick up a POTC steelbook for trade. There's quite a few steelbooks that I'd like to get from Futureshop and can't. I can pay or I can get USA exclusives for anyone that's willing. I'm in So. Cal.

Both the English and French version, show as sold out, but I wouldn't worry.

I did hear through the grapevine, that a Canadian eBay seller did a ton of pre-sell/pre-order through their eBay store. All from USA buyers.

Just noticed today at best buy, they must have re-released Dune as a steelbook. I saw the old "metal" case and newer steelbook next to one another. Pretty much the same layout, spin is longer on the steelbook as is it boarder.

There are rumors some of the new steelbooks are two discs rather than flippers.
