Thanks Ric. Yes those are screenshots from the previous DVD release of Trek 6. I get screenshots using VLC media player . I take them at the largest size possible. My resolution is 1600x1200, and so I usually end up scaling down the elements from the screenshots. This helps maximize the quality of the graphics. A tad bit of sharpening in Photoshop and you've got some decent screencaps.

Fan-flippin'-tastic!

I do have one slight problem [and I really don't know why it bothers me...].

On the back cover, Kirk & Spock both have their mouths closed. However, McCoy's is open.

I have NO idea why this bugged me, but it does. However, this is STILL a GREAT cover! [And just in time for the STVI:CE ]

The ST VI cover looks fantastic, Doc. Bravo!

Also, your new covers site is great. Good luck with it!

The first cover for the new Apes 35th Anniversary release is now up:

I'll be putting up alternate versions with two other poster art variants.

Thanks for the POTA cover. Can't wait to see what the other two look like! Can you provide a preview?

I'll see about getting previews for the other two tonight. It'll probably be late in the evening, though.

Any specific requests regarding the other two covers?

Could you make a single case sized version?

Single size case size is preferred here.

I didn't even realize that the one you posted was for an Alpha.

Look foward to seeing what you come up with.

Also, any chance of a Alien cover reflecting the new release?

Well, I didn't get as far as I wanted to tonight on the other two, so it looks like it's going to be more like tomorrow...

The first cover is actually sized for single/Double Amaray cases, not Double Alpha. That was a silly typo.

I plan on getting the Alien Series done, although that going take a little time.

Here's the front of one of the two upcoming alternate versions of the Apes SE discs. I'm still mulling over whether I'm gonna do different backs for the two new ones.

Any poster preference for the other one?

Planet of the Apes Cover

If your looking for input, I think a 35th anniversary version of the Planet of the Apes (Version A) cover that you previously did would be nice. That is the one using the international poster art.

Hey Dr. Zaius what happened with the other versions of POTA you had in store.

BTW, that purple POTA cover freaked me out.

Had a bit of a family emergency to deal with. Nothing life, or death, but enough to delay me on a great many things. I'm hoping to find time this evening and tomorrow to finish them up...

Doc,

Any plans for the rest of the 2-Disc sets of the Star Trek movies?
I hope everything was okay... The emergency, I mean, I hope everything is ok...

Doc, I need some help with the personal hostility I'm getting in the forum. It's hard to be nice and constructive when EVERYONE besides Icon769 and some few peeps who are nice to me. I'm just trying to be unique and I HATE being mean. It's very unbecoming of me.

Oh boo ****ing hoo. You've gone out of your way to be an irritation on this board, so don't be surprised by the reaction that you get. In fact, I'd be willing to bet it's exactly what you want.

You're currently clogging the first page of the DVD area by trying to have the most recent post on all the threads. You wit and wisdom consists of one-word posts just to pad your count.

Good job on going from interesting to banned in a record amount of time. You will not be missed.

Why not just be yourself. Why do you have to be unique? If you're trying to be something you're not, many folks in here will sense it and not take you seriously...or just ignore you completely. There are a high number of extremely intelligent people who post in here. This "routine" you have going is easily seen through.

You seem like a nice kid. Very eager and inquisitive about movies and DVDs and technology and other things. Just be yourself and stop trying so hard to be "unique"; it's just pissing people off.

Commander, what paper would you recommend for printing DVD's? Glossy or matte finish? Brightness.
When I go to Office Max I won't want to waste my money...

question guys, I have never printed these before. I just tried using photo paper, and the writing is a little blurry. I downloaded it and printed from my photo shop (the one that came with my cpu), is that why, do i need a better photo shop, a better printer, or am i doing something wrong?

Wow, I wander off for a few days and and BOOM, all sorts of craziness starts goin' on. Everything is fine, my "emergency" just had me running around away from my computer more than I normally am. Lots of driving and not enough atrophying in front of the computer.

I'll definitely be finishing up those other POTA covers, the crazy purple one, [which I think is from a Polish poster design] and one featuring the classic international art.

I'll also be continuing the Trek 2 disc covers as they come out.

I've also got about half a dozen miscellaneous covers in varoius stages of completion, and just need to lock myself in a room and just finish them up. Hopefully That'll be sooner than later.

And as far as the printer paper discussion goes (if anyone cares), its been a little while since I last printed a cover but I found the EPSON Premium Glossy Photo Paper to work well.

i've been using Epson Glossy Photo Paper. it's $20 at costco for 120 sheets and the results are awesome on my canon i860.

ivelostr2, what type of printer and brand of paper do you use? the image program should be fine for printing them out.

What a great forum & thread! Serendipity strikes at last! :-)

I'm just starting to collect cover art, and lately I'm concentrating on scanning and retouching all my originals so I can thin-down all my cases (not enough room on the shelves). But your custom covers are unbelievable! I've thought about making some, but I just don't have the time right now for that kind of creativity. :-(

I'm very happy to learn about the VLC player since PowerDVD screenshots just don't cut the mustard, but I'm looking for fonts to match the originals to fix poor scans or dl's. I've found plenty of text fonts (~800) but what about all the icons? Is there a font of DVD-type icons, like Closed-Caption, Dolby Digital, MPAA, region codes, rating boxes, and the "DVD Video" icon? How about the studio logos (New Line, Paramount, Universal, etc.)? And is there a free UPC generator anywhere? I'd just like to have clean, easy, scalable icons instead of grainy scans.

BTW - As to the question raised earlier in the thread about disk size: My Epson R300 recommends printing standard CDs/DVDs at 40mm ID & 118mm OD, which is about 2800x2800@600dpi. Hub-printable discs' ID is about 22mm.

Dvd Covers

I have searched for dvd covers, and I must say, yours are the best on the net. However, you need to put some new ones on there. What size are these pics and at was resolution? I tried dvdcovers.com, but their pics are WAY TOO SMALL and come out all pixelated! any other site you can recommend?
