Okay, finaly got the time to get started on the Indy covers (sorry Superman II and IV have been pushed back for now). Only halfway through the first cover, but here's what I've got so far...
Yes, I know everyone and their mom is doing Indiana Jones covers, but I just HAD to do ones of my own.
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Superman... pushed back....
Just kidding.
That cover is deautiful Doc! I love the back and way you "weathered" the look of the cover.
Definately my favorite of the recent custom offerings. Looking forward to the final release!

I quickly looked through the thread and unless I missed it, I didn't see any mention of the sizes for printing DVD covers. If you could provide me with the following it would be very much appreciated:
Size in Pixels
" Inches
" Centimeters
...and DPI
I think CENTIMETERS is most exact. Am I right in saying this?

The cover dimensions are as follows:
3240 x 2175 pixels
10.8 x 7.25 inches
27.43 x 18.42 cm
300 dpi
I prefer to go by pixels, in terms of measurement, making sure that it's set to 300 dpi.

Thank you for getting back to me. Whenever I resize an image I always change the DPI to 300. I will start resizing using Pixels instead of inches. Do you happen to know the dimensions for CD prints, such as front, back, inlay, cd? Thanks for your help! One more thing, I love what you are doing with DVD covers, just wish you had a larger collection! Keep up the great work!

I haven't done cd designs before, so I'll see what I can figure out, in terms of the exact dimensions.
In regards to the the covers, I have a whole bunch I've been working on, and am close to finishing quite a few pretty soon. The DTS Jaws Cover is ready, and I just have a few modifications to make for the standard Dolby Digital version.
I'll soon be setting up a sister site to my current one which should be a bit faster and better arranged, with a bit more info into the making of the covers themselves.

Great work Dr. Zaius.
I really like what you've done.
Perhaps you should put up a very small FAQ on your site about printing, because alex4bball asked a question I was thinking about myself.

Hi There.
I'm not one to usually post anything on a forum, but after stumbling upon your site recently, I couldn't resist.....
Dr. Zauis, you deserve much praise for creating such excellent alternatives to the streamlined and lackluster artwork that is available for many big budget dvd releases. It's always slightly disappointing to purchase wonderfully crafted classic films, like "Superman" or "Indiana Jones", that have such little attention paid to honoring the original artwork that presented these great movies to us. It's part of the whole nostolgia trip - isn't it ??
And so, stepping down from my soap box, I just wanted to say "thanks, man." Your covers are very cool, and I can't wait to see what you come up with for "Superman III and IV" and the "Indy" bonus disc. Any possiblity for some cult fav's like "Buckaroo Banzai" or the "Bill and Ted" flicks?

Thanks very much!
I had previously planned on doing a cover for Buckaroo Banzai, but had found it very difficult finding suitable quality poster artwork. If you can find any, let me know and I'll definately do it.

I try to take requests, but I find that it often times takes me forever to get some key covers done, let-alone the requested ones. It also depends on if I can find enough resources to make a decent cover.
I'd be happy to see what I can do for you.
What were you looking for?

Hey Dr. Zaius,
Any plans on updating your POTA cover to reflect the 2 disc set coming out next Tuesday?
(Add obligatory request for Superman III and IV here )

Stunning job as always! And thanks for putting the title back in the explosion where it belongs! Also another great job on the back. Are you using screen caps for your images? How do you get them looking so good?
