I encourage everyone that has even a little interest in seeing future seasons of Survivor to please buy this set. Watch it once, then sell it on ebay or give it away. I have a feeling that we will not see any more seasons of this unless it sells very well.

CBS never airs repeats and the show is not in syndication.
whatever - I thought this was an open forum, turns out this particular thread is only for the pro-Survivor and network opinionated...didnt realize my anti-survivor-network opinion was going to be such a problem....I suppose you wouldnt be too surprised to know that I jumped for Joy and sang in the rain when FRIENDS had its Series Finale...its unfortunate that THAT particular syndicated orgy will will go on for quite some time. (Vommit)
Yaaaayyyy, Survivor's coming to DVD, Yaaaaaayyyyy!!
how's that?

I will assume that since you are new here that you did not understand the meaning of "threadcrap" but you do now.
You still have not given an example of a film that has not been released due to Survivor's release. I can only assume that you are fanning the flames of trouble and trolling for a response.
You coming here and saying "Survivor sux!" is the same as if I went into your thead about a film you like and said "It sux!". This argument might make more sense if you had actually answered my previous post.

Why didn't Paramount exclude the "Bonus Disc - Survivor - Season One: The Greatest And Most Outrageous Moments" to keep the price down? What true Survivor fans didn't already have that one?

Well, they haven't done Survivor: Fallujah or Survivor: Kabul yet.
It's interesting what MTV has done with their "Real World" season sets. They came out with the first season, then skipped to the most current one (Las Vegas, was it?) and proceeded from there. I wonder if Survivor: All-Stars will see the light of day before the others that didn't do as well in the ratings?

I doubt I'll be purchasing any other season of Survivor, but I did purchase this one.
The first season of Survivor changed the landscape of television...for good or for bad or somewhere in between. It existed before people began to "use" reality tv to launch personal "celebrity." The people on this show had no idea what they were getting into. Though The Real World and Cops had been around for years, it was Survivor that made "The Reality Show" a ratings and cultural phenomenon.
I watched the finale and reunion show the other night and I must say it is fascinating television. The original Survivor was brilliantly constructed and from a dramatic standpoint, was as good as any scripted drama on television. The reunion show beautifully captured America's captivation with the show.
Mark Burnett knows how to cast "characters" and edit "stories." Although subsequent editions of the show have been redundent at times, they still contain excellent characters and dramatic and comical moments thanks to superior production.
Although Survivor has essentially birthed things like The Swan, it has also brought forth other terrific reality shows like The Amazing Race and The Apprentice. Some reality shows are well-made and illustrate the best and most fascinating parts human nature. Others simply cater to the worst of humanity.
But to say that all reality tv is trash and that this particular genre is destroying television is unrealistic. To me, what has been killing television is the network's inability to produce quality shows or to let initially low-rated programs grow. It's been said many times, but shows like Cheers and Seinfeld would not have survived in these impatient and money-hungry times. Networks look for successful forumulas and time slots instead of originality and quality. A true original (or as original as a TV show can be) like Arrested Development can't find an audience and will most likely be canceled. A derivative show like According to Jim (which may or may not contain a solid laugh here or there), succeeds because people are comfortable with the formula; they know exactly what to expect.
Anyway, to return to my main point, Survivor was a fantastic show and a historic moment for television. And I can see rewatching it down the line just to marvel at how it changed the face of TV. And I will continue to watch new incarnations of the show so long as Burnett continues to provide intriguing characters and production.
