Survivor on dvd finally

I was taking a look at the new release list and noticed that the complete first season of Survivor is being released on May 11th. Hopefully this will be the first of many releases. It will be nice to see if this season still holds up after all these years. Is anyone else looking foreward to this?

Psychlowne 04-30-04 03:00 AM

Hmm... this is pretty cool. Though I'll probably pass on all but Season 2, that was the best one I thought. *cough* Elisabeth *cough*

Anyway, looking forward to this!

Fok 04-30-04 03:20 AM

Don't think I could watch them again and again. With so many survivor shows, its all becoming the same old thing.

Jackskeleton 04-30-04 03:26 AM

I don't see the re-watchability of these reality shows. Those best of's dvds that they released after each season seemed fine enough for the need.

Shannon Nutt 04-30-04 04:50 AM

I can't imagine re-watching a show like this when I already know who won...the "Best Of" DVDs that they released are much better if you really enjoyed a particular season...but who wants to sit down and watch 20+ shows of this again, when all the suspense is gone?

Corky Roxbury 04-30-04 05:01 AM

yeah but same could be said for almost any show CSI, L&O, 24, among many others, once you see them once, the suspense is gone I personally will buy it just becuase it is another tv show on dvd, but the potential for mulitple discs of unseen fottage would have been great

It's like wanting to get Wheel of Fortune on dvd. Whatever floats your boat and makes you happy. :) I don't see the real point of anything more then best of's simply because there is indeed a difference between watching 20 episodes of the simpsons and watching 20 episodes of a game show.

Thats not true.

I saw Wheel of Fortune twice this month. One day it was a hairy woman with aa mole who won a motorcycle.

The other time was a fat bald man who won a year supply of Car Oil.

See. Every episode is different. It's like an Arc. Will they win? Will they loose? Will we have a repeat winner?

Jackskeleton 04-30-04 05:55 AM

You're right. I'm un-cancelling my pre-order for Wheel of fortune: the complete Season 26.

but only as long as it comes with an insert

cutie :)

I was going to buy this set, but then I asked myself "whould I really watch it more than once?" the answer became no (plus I would not listen to the commentaries, because those where the 3 survivors that bugged the hell out of me)... so this one will be a netflix for me. Maybe I would buy seasons 2 and 3, though.

Abob Teff 04-30-04 05:23 PM

I actually did not see the first season. Come to think of it, I don't think I saw much other than the 2nd. Anyway . . . I could see a college class using these, say a communications class or sociology.

Mike Lowrey 04-30-04 06:22 PM

Well, I was a pretty big fan of Season 1 & 2. Started to watch Season 3 and then 9/11 hit soon thereafter and I was like, "What the heck, here we had a dozen people trying to survive out in Africa, while we just had 3000+ people get killed. Operation Enduring Freedom became the real 'Survivor' for me."

I might get these sometime down the line once I know that the studio will release subsequent seasons. But probably not now.

Brian Gentz 04-30-04 06:32 PM

I'm considering getting Season One for the same reason I bought the best of season one, and The Animal.

Elisabeth > All

CaseyB 04-30-04 11:47 PM

I don't consider it a game show. You get involved with the personalties, the locations and the drama created through the editing. I'm getting this set for sure and I'd like to see the other seasons released as well.

Abob Teff 05-01-04 10:31 AM

As one who has been interested in the dynamics of Survivor, but rarely watched, anybody want to throw up a poll of the SUrvivor hotties? Or throw some names at me and I'll do it. (Personally, Elisabeth.)

indycohiba 05-01-04 01:51 PM

I did not start watching until Pearl Islands so I will probably pick this one up. Plus, if this does not sell well, you may never get to see Elizabeth for a full season. -wink-

BTW, I just returned from a cruise a few weeks ago and Richard Hatch was on our ship with his partner. He is even more egotistical in person than on the show, but in a fun sort of way.

Disc-Flipper 05-01-04 04:14 PM

I'll buy this! I especially want Season 2 Australia.

CaseyB 05-01-04 06:08 PM

The sexiest one was America's Sweetheart Sue Hawk! The season set is available at DeepDiscountDVD.com for $36.00. :)

Psychlowne 05-01-04 07:59 PM

No, dude. I've already stated who the best survivor was, please refer to that post. Thank you.

Ha-ha. Amber gets my vote easy. The second series in Australia was sensational, probably the best ever. What a tragedy that Jerri decided to do Playboy and Amber didn't.

I have the final episode of the first series on tape so am dubious about buying this DVD set. Sue's rant at the final tribal council (she didn't even bother to ask questions) is even more disturbing knowing that if anything, she's gotten worse with time but as Lex observed in Allstars, most of the players were just sheep.

I've been a junkie for some time, but I missed the first season and Africa (which actually didn't start airing until AFTER 9/11), so getting the first season is a no-brainer (plus I have an Amazon GC with its name on it) but then I don't consider it a game show. It's melodrama of the highest order and I actually can see watching it more than once. There are classic moments in all the seasons I've seen that I'd love to revisit. And right now it's the best show on TV, IMO, bar none. Hard to imagine the drama of any other show competing with the insane back-stabbing and scheming on this show. Glad to see this release!
