I got the same message, and I'm a paid subscriber.

So it sounds like their system is still all screwed up.

Hmm, on Netscape, I can't get anything but the "website down, will be restored asap" message. www.intervocative.com works, but the actual DVD Profiler site is still down.

EDIT: It wasn't working about 30 minutes ago, but I decided to try again when I posted this message, and it's working now.

It's down again now.

It looks like they're still not really "up" yet - as half the additions I've tried to add fail. And sometimes some things work and other times they don't.

Their connectivity seems to be sketchy at the moment.

Well, I decided to give them a few extra days to report how it was working for me. As of right now, I have no problems with the client (I can, add update, export, check for updates, etc.), but I still can't view my collection online.

Thorn, I got this message when I went to view your profile:

The online collection system for this collection is temporarily unavailable. Please check back in a few minutes.

The maximum number of active user sessions for free registrations has been reached. In order to ensure performance and stability, the system limits the number of users who can view their collections at the same time.

Please note: Premium registrant accounts receive a higher priority, and so not affected by this limit. If you are a premium registrant and see this message while accessing your collection, please verify that your premium registration key and user alias match, under My Profiler->my collection at www.dvdprofiler.com

For details on premium registration, please visit our premium registration page.

I also noticed that while Thorn's was down, mine came right up.

So I guess membership has its privileges, or something.

I can't upload and it's saying I need to reduce the upload file by 34.5%. I never had parental controls activated. Is this the same as locks, or is there something else I should try. No, I haven't forked out the $$ for the upgrade.

It looks like they reduced the file allocation for non-subscribers.

This looks like the beginning of the end for DVD Profiler. If I wasn't already a subscriber I certainly wouldn't pay after this fiasco.

I can now update. This is great, I've gotten a decent amount of discs since it was down, too. Only strange thing was I had no updated disc profiles (usually I get updated ones at least once a week).

For some reason I have two discs that WILL NOT UPDATE - even if I try to force a manual update - no images, no profile, NOTHING.

But when I view my online collection, there it is, profile and images and all.

Just a few simple steps:

1) In the DVD Profiler program, select "File --> Export Profile Database"
2) Save a copy of your collection as a CSV file.
3) Open up the file in Excel.
4) Login to your DVD Aficionado page (I'm assuming that you have already set up an account there at this point).
5) Select "My DVDs --> Quick Import"
6) Select and copy your entire list of films from the file and paste them into the textarea in the Quick Import screen.
7) Follow the instructions from there . . .

New interesting update . . . the DVD Profiler program is still working perfectly for me, and now I can view my collection online, but only using Internet Explorer. When I use Nescape, I still get the "Temporarily Unavailable" message.

Yeah, they're still SNAFU over there.

I've never been more appreciative of DVD AF. I think I'm going to go donate some more money to them.

Me too. My goodness, this is a mess.

I would have felt better had they been upfront the whole time, but they way they have handled it left a bad taste in my mouth period.

I'm having no problems with it. Added to my collection, updated some titles. Updated my online collection and can view it (both in Opera and IE).

It is a bit slow downloading the updates, but that's it (and honestly that's not unusual in my experience).

Try updating your online profiles.

It will always tell you your profiles are up to date, even if some images are missing.

Just when I was thinking of giving them some money....This whole deal has kinda ticked me off. I have only gotten the "too many users" message since they went back online. From what I read & heard, they didn't even let the paying subscribers know what happened at first nor did they give updates on their progress.

I really don't want to pay $25 just so I can see my collection on their website. I'll keep my own database or use DVD AF from now on.

Consider this:

http://www.opcenter.de/awf/index.php?id=27

Demo:

http://www.opcenter.de/phpdvdprofiler/

I haven't tried it myself yet, but am considering it more and more as I keep getting the Online Collection Unavailable limit....

I'm still looking for a desktop programme that works better than DVD Profiler but contains as much technical info about the discs as possible, as well as is easily updateable.

Collectorz is just too manual for my needs. It's nice that it can import data right from IMDB, or other web sites, but those sites generally aren't as detailed as DVD Pro for disc specs.

There are no paying or non-paying subscribers to DVD Profiler. It is not a service. DVD Profiler is a freeware program. One can purchase a key for $25.00 which unlocks the full features of that program. That is all that one pays for. I don't see why this is so hard for some people to understand.
