I will have to double dip on this one. I wish they would have gotten it right the first time though.

This is definitely good news!!!

I rented this because I heard so many bad reviews . . . actually ended up really enjoying the movie and was bummed I didn't buy it.

Anyways, can't wait for the new release . . . hope it has DTS.

Columbia Tristar have tentatively scheduled a new R1 two-disc edition of Underworld featuring an uncut, extended version of the film for release on 25th May 2004. In addition to the extended cut you can also expect a range of new bonus material including...
2-Disc Set with collectible items inside
Extended cut and unrated
Fang vs. Fiction - 45 minute featurette on Vampires and Werewolves. Originally created for AMC, using footage from "Underworld“
"The Look of Underworld" - featurette on the Cinematography and digital colour correction
"Effects of Underworld" - Featurette about the creation of the special effects
"Blooper reel" - outtake reel
Director and Cast commentary - New commentary from director Len Wiseman and cast members Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman. **Pending talent availability
"The Len and Danny Show" **Tentative
just rebumping this to page 4

remember folks, this is a 'rumoured' release, so don't get all too excited - as far I as know there hasn't been an official announcement... yet. Can anyone confirm this supposed release?

since it appears that Columbia TriStar Home Video is relaxing it's unrated policy with the release of this, and "Wild Things" I hope we can finally see more older films get restored "Happy Birthday to Me" comes to mind. (I wish Columbia/TriStar could have tracked down and restored the few seconds of deleted gore - the half head decapitation from STARSHIP TROOPERS)

I've been wanting to buy the first release. Just haven't got around to it yet, now I'm glad I waited. Sounds like it will be a nice set.

Score. Procrastination (and a lack of funds) has finally paid off. I was going to pick this up when it was first released, but now I'm glad I wasn't able to. I hope this does go through and doesn't get cancelled, because it sounds like a good set.

If this is true, then I think it's too soon. It'll be better if they wait for UNDERWORLD 2, then release weeks before. Anyway I'll get, don't have the first dvd version.

I picked up the R3 HK, DTS disc for under $13 bucks. Have no problem double-dipping on this new title.

Davisdvd.com confirmed that the 2-disc extended cut is set to be released on May 25th. However, the MSRP is $34.95.

With your name, I always wondered how you'd perceive this film... I was hoping for something akin to the following:

"Yeah, well at least your name isn't Michael Corvin."

- "You know there's nothing wrong with that name."

"There WAS nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown-filled movie became famous and started making money."

- "Hmm... well why don't you just go by Mike instead of Michael?"

"No way! Why should I change? Underworld's what sucks!"

I was waiting for it to drop down in price before buying (although I liked the film, the majority of people out there didn't, hence it would be $9.99 by the end of the year), now I'm glad I waited!

i just watched my dvd for the first time yesterday (saw underworld in the theaters first) and a few questions came up:

1) when selene was talking into the mirror before awakening viktor, was that so viktor would then have that 'memory' when he awoke and would understand the situation? is that why she was basically talking to herself?

2) did kraven call selene 'cousin' in one of the later scenes in the movie?

I liked it very much. However i wish i knew about the 2 disk before i purchased it. Then again that's how it's been for most dvds that being released anyway so i shouldn't complain.
