The Lord Of The Rings Difference

This may be a dumb ? --

What differences are there between the box sets and the 2 disc sets of both movies? I have the box sets of both - are they the same as far as extras? any info would be great

The Box Sets that you're referring to and actually the Extended Editions. They "extend" the length of the overall film by adding scenes that were cut from the theatrical release.

The theatrical release is the version available on the 2-disc set that comes in the standard DVD case. The extended editions are only available in the 4 disc boxes and contain the extra footage and more extra features.

Look at Amazon for a more detailed description of the differences.

first of all the 2-disc sets have the movie version you saw in the theater. the boxes are extended by 30-40 minutes or so

while the 2-disc sets have only a fraction of the extras, there are different nonetheless from the boxes' extras

I may be mistaken but I seem to recall a thread or two here about these DVDs when they came out. You may want to try using the search function.
