I don't see any problems with releasing Revolutions in January. In fact, i'm all for it as i can't wait to see the movie again without having to see it in theaters. Everyone that wanted to see the movie has seen it, so i doubt theater owners have much to complain about. Those who loved the trilogy will get the conclusion faster. Those who didn't watch it because of Reloaded and the reviews will get a chance to buy it or rent it while there's still an interest. As far as i'm concerned, i can't wait!

I think most people here were forgetting the fact that this was the first movie that was released worldwide simultaneously, which is one of the reasons for the faster turnaround. Most studios release a movie theatrically in other countries gradually that is why most dvds take up to 6 months and longer to be released.

Good call for Revolutions, but actually Reloaded was released worldwide the same way. I for one am definetly going to pick up this release as I liked it leaps and bounds above Reloaded.

Releasing two months after theatrical is just plain wrong.
Nothing wrong about it. It saves them from having to invest more money into promoting the DVD while the movie promos are still fresh.
And Hollywood wonders why people don't go to the movies anymore...
They don't? I thought box office was pretty good this year.

Plenty of movies are released simultaneously around the world. It doesn't usually affect the DVD release date either way.

That isn't true this was the first US movie ever to do it such a precise way.

Reloaded was not released in the same manner as Revolutions. This was the first of it's kind.

I can't wait to get this. The less turn-around the better.

So it was released at the same time all around the world, instead of merely on the same day all around the world as has been the case with many other movies. That difference of a few hours doesn't seem especially likely to affect the DVD release IMHO.

Anyway, Warner Home Video have denied the rumour that it will be released on January 6th, according to IGN FilmForce:

"It's official... Matrix Revolutions will NOT be released in January has had been rumored. I've just heard from a representative of Warner Home Video, who explained that the DVD will, in fact, be released later in 2004. Expect an official announcement in January, but no disc."

New article up on the Rumor Mill over at the Digital Bits.

12/16/03

Multiple retail sources have contacted me in the last 24 hours to say that they're being told to tentatively expect Warner's Matrix Revolutions on DVD on April 6th. No further information is available at this time, so take that for what you will.

Stay tuned...

Before even reading the four pages worth of posts this snatched up, I could tell you blindly that there would have been no release this early. Not even in January. The movie was out in the beginning of November right? There's no way it would be released in just under two months before christmas. No matter how bad the movie clunked in the theaters. Not even three! Four months is rare... five months is more likely. Let's give it a lil' time.
