So is Blue Underground gonna re-do a lot of the Hammer films?

I missed out on the Elite version, so I will buy the Blue Underground release. The premise sounds promising.

Bill Lustig has stated that they will eventually be rereleased by Blue Underground. There is no time frame mentioned. I am sure that Blue Underground will eventually revisit all of the licenses reverting back to Lustig.

Blue Underground really needs to update their website more often. For such a marketing savvy company it is surprising that their website is so static.

How successful is Blue Underground's current marketing strategy? Are they selecting good releases? Are they pricing them right?

There are actually three versions of The Final Countdown which will be released by Blue Underground. They are releasing a single disc fullscreen, a single disc widescreen, and a two disc limited edition widescreen edition. Why Blue Underground is doing this is beyond me.

$$$$$$$$$

Although I'm not sure if the contents of the second disc is worth the extra $10 they're asking. An interview with Lloyd Kaufman? Oh please.

Lloyd Kaufman is an interesting guy. I think he might have some very useful information. Don't sell him short.

Yes...but a Lenticular cover which has the Nimitz disappear and re-appear depending upon which side you turn it from..surely this is worth $10 admission alone....

The 2-disc version is only $18 at DDD. Can't really complain about the price. Final Countdown will be their most popular release yet, so it's not a big surprise that they're offering multiple versions. After all, BU got its roots from Anchor Bay.

Yeah, I'd be willing to pay $18.00 for the single disc version, so I've got no problem with the existence of a 2-disc version!

this sounds cool, too!!

update from the bits:

"The Zero Pilot Journal is actually a 4,000 word diary written by the CAF (Confederate Air Force) detailing the Zero pilots' experience filming the dogfight scenes with the F-14s, from the difficulties just flying down to Key West, to filming the flight scenes with the Tomcats. It turns out that it was an extremely difficult and dangerous task. The article was written in 1979 before the movie was released and has been essentially lost since. I cannot stress enough how detailed this article is. It is a complete documentary, just in words rather than video. I guarantee if you love the Final Countdown movie, you will love this article and find it extremely educational."

Very true but I think they have done a lot of things very well to date. Not a single BU release that I am not happy with and think I have most of them.

I disagree. I do not believe that Final Countdown will be their most popular release. I don't think the film has that big a following. Most people don't even remember it.

I wish Blue Underground would update their website. I am still looking for an announcement about replacement boxes for The Mondo Cane Collection.

Yes..strange there hasn't been an announcement as such.
According to various sources and responses i have received by e-mail myself, they are looking to get replacement boxes out by Feb.1 according to Lissa Beltri (BU)

That is the same information I have received, but, I won't feel satisfied until I see it posted on their site.

I'd say that of all the titles on BU....this will "cross the lines" as much or more than any other of their titles. I dont have any figures, but I'll bet Dead and Buried was a good seller as well. for many people, TFC will be their first BU purchase. most of the other titles require a certain taste and open-mindedness, while TFC is one of their more mainstream releases. more people than you think might have seen this flick. any other time it's been released it has recieved crappy promoting and shitty presentation. the word will spread of this title and of the dvd. I hope. I say it's going to surprise many people and sell many copies.

I really doubt that Final Countdown will have much more demand than Dead & Buried or Q The Winged Serpent.

cool...I'm just sayin'. I remember when TFC came through on it's theatrical run. it seemed to attract a pretty decent following. many of us sci-fi fans grew up with this. I cant remember D&B or Q even hitting the local theaters here. I could be wrong...but I was a horror fan then so ya think I'd remeber. gettin' to old.

regardless...I'm sure that this disc...for us fans....will be top-notch!!
