Agreed.

And where the hell is the documentary and deleted scenes???? They should have just called this the "bling bling" edition.

I guess I won't be in a rush to double dip on this one.

Sounds good to me, so far. I won't badmouth the transfer till I read reviews.

As for the "rap guys" doc, I would've been disappointed had they not included some reference to this film's influence on pop culture. I look forward to watching it. If you don't want to watch it, don't. Big deal.

I don't think it's the fact that it's included.

I think it's that it's included and the documentary and deleted scenes are not.

Digitalfreaknyc is kicking himself in the ass for selling his other version right now. May just have to buy the bootleg to have those extras at this point. *sigh*

I was kicking myself as well for selling my original version. But then I realized that I will probably be able to buy the new version and a copy of the old version for about half of what I sold mine for.

With better A/V, I'll be satisfied.

I wonder if there is any chance the movie will be on one side with the extras on the opposite side of the disc. Let's hope.

Well that's better news. Guess we're only missing out on the documentary.

Well there's a "Creating Scarface" listed in the features.
Hopefully that'll be the substitute for a doc.

As we stated...it'll be very difficult to have a movie that's almost 3 hours with substantial extras and a dts track on one disc and have good quality.

And the other documentary wasn't very good but I'd take it over nothing. this movie deserved more than an hour.

Exactly. Honestly, how important are these extras you watch once or twice?

I want a good looking and very good sounding version....that's it.

See above. And I watch extras quite a bit. They're great filler for time and as a student of filmmaking, wonderful information. I want as many as we can get on there.

Does anyone know of a 3 hour movie with DTS and a good amount of extras on one side? How does the compression look? As bad as I think?

The Scarface doc was bad? Anyone else think this? (I haven't seen it)

Wasn't it done by the same guy who did the other DePalma docs. He usually does a good job.

isnt there someway we could ask universal to include the documentary and put the extras on a 2nd disc? like a petition or something. or is it already too late?

The Scarface doc was good.

I don't think a petition is going to help with this matter.

I'm much more concerned about the video. Are they that stupid to put a 3 hour movie with DTS, two tracks, and extras on one side of a disc?

It's ashame Universal often finds a way to screw things up.

That's why I didn't sell my Collector's Edition of Scarface. And by the way, Brian De Palma must have snorted all that coke in Scarface, because not only is his latest movie Femme Fatale a complete joke and pathetic attempt at a comeback, but his allowing his best movie of all time becoming a Rap documentary, is just plain retarded.

The documentary was, at only ONE hour, WAY too short. The only actor who was interviewed (if I recall) was Al Pacino. I only watched it once while I had it but I felt it was sorely lacking.

I for one cannot wait for this DVD! On a different note, have any of you ever seen the poster before that has Michelle Pheiffers image on it next to his ? The poster for this movie is exactly the same as the cover art of the original DVD. Ive always liked it as it had the black on the left, the white on the right and his image is outlined in black on the white side and extends into the black side. The poster I saw has Michelle s head and upper body outlined in white on the black side right next to his head! really cool. Ive never seen it before! I think I will buy it to put in my Theater rooms poster display case!

Could it be possible that the old documentary has been taken apart and will be part of the new disc?

I mean some of the features (like TV version comparison) is part of the old documentary.

Boy, talk about the "bling bling edition" -- I just checked out the images linked above and the box for the collectors edition looks like it is ready-made to be inserted into some kind of home "shrine".

And what *is* that subdued grey logo on the front of the box?
