Watching a movie 20 minutes a night.......

I much *prefer* to watch a movie all the way through, lights out, cranked up, with *very* rare occasional pause for restroom break. Then to browse the extras and watch the ones that appeal to me [I don't care for commentaries.]
But--I have definitely been doing the '20 minutes at a time' thing recently, oh, about the last seven months. Between raising a 9 month old boy and of course wanting to play with, read to, and pay attention to him, running a household, and getting the house ready to go on the market, not to mention work, meals, and sleep, there are very few occasions where both of us [the missus and I] can sit and watch a movie together, and only slightly more where I can focus on it. =We have two stacks of 'pending' DVD's--one of stuff that I bought and haven't watched yet, and one of stuff that we want to watch together [still haven't seen the second Harry Potter.] I did manage to watch 'Das Experiment' last weekend in only 2 tries, which was good. [Also a lot of the movies that are pending are rated R, and I don't want to watch them when baby's awake/around.]
My answer to this: tv shows on dvd. I've been renting a lot of anime tv series from Netflix, most of which are 22-25 minutes an episode, so you can take a break between eps and not lose too much focus. In fact, a lot of the stuff I've watched recently has been 'short attention span' stuff; Princess Nine, Mary Tyler Moore, Complete Goofy, etc. But I do want to settle down in the sofa, with some popcorn, and get into a good movie sometime soon : ( I was able to finally watch Attack of the Clones a few months back when I was out sick for about a week.

This happens with Porn all the time.....or so i hear
Seriously, I noticed I start doing it when I get in the TV on DVD routine. I just recently finished a boxset and the two movies I've put in afterwards have been 20 to 30 minutes at a time. One was a movie I had already seen though (albeit a while ago), so I'm not sure if that counts.

Yeah, i do this too, but typically, i'll last about an hour. It's sad too because it's summer vacation and i still want to go to sleep at like 11. These late-teenaged bones just aren't what they used to be.

I have a bad habit of falling asleep watching tv when it's late. I think it started because I used to like to fall asleep with the tv on and its transfered over to movie watching too. I have no problem watching a movie in chunks -- If I did, then the Lord of the Rings trilogy would be a problem, because its essentially 1 movie split into 3.
I also read books over several days.... *shudder*

I hate being interrupted while watching a movie. If I don't think I can watch it all I won't even start it; which means I watch movies less often...but at least I don't get annoyed.

I watch whatever I can whenever I can. I might watch 30 minutes in the afternoon than only 10 minutes before bed. It usually takes 2-3 days for one movie. I would love to start a movie and finish it 2-3 hours later but that's easier said than done.

Whenever I want to listen to commentaries I usually do it in 20 minute increments over a course of several days. Mostly while I'm getting dressed in the morning or ready for bed at night.

My fiance teases me about this. I have been watching movies in this manner for years. My only reason as a serious attention deficit. I get really easily distracted and antsy. It's just the way it is...

Years ago I used to come home for lunch and watch maybe 45 minutes of a movie. That worked best if I had already seen it and was just rewatching. Now I save all my movie watching for the weekend when I can watch the whole thing. I use my lunches at home for DVDTalk since I can't check in from work anymore.

My problem seems to be that the phone rings within 15 minutes of watching a movie, and then a 2 hour movie ends up taking 3 hours.
I know I could just not answer the phone, but I've got to be social. But it is almost inevitable that the phone rings, of course if I'm not watching a movie, then no one calls.

Just about every night before I go to sleep, I watch an episode of one of my TV sets. 22 minutes or so, I'm done. I love it. Of course I have a large number of sets to choose from so I have a multitude of different episodes I can watch.

Do you take up the movie from where you fell asleep or start all over again?
When I'm drifting off to sleep during a first-time watching of a movie, I lose track of the plot so have to start from the beginning. Jeez, I've lost count of the number of movies I own that I know off by heart up to the halfway point but the second half of the movie remains uncharted territory.
Damn this middle age.

I find if you watch a DVD in chucks you loose the atmosphere or
even forget little details important to the "whole picture"
I like to watch a title in one sitting usually early Saturday or
Sunday morning.
Whatever works for everyone, I guess.
