20 minutes a night.......
Hey all....
I was just wondering if anyone else out there often suffers from the "20 minutes a night" syndrome?
That is, you are so busy that the only way it seems you can watch a movie is to watch it when you go to bed -- for about 20 minutes -- before you doze off. Yea, at this rate it takes about a week to watch a movie.... Haha...I'm sure you can relate sometimes...
Peace,
Matt

I used to have to finish a movie that I started, regardless of the time or even my schedule. But, eventually, I found that there was nothing (much) lost in splitting a movie up, especially the longer 3 1/2 hr ones.

I try not to... It's kinda like viewing a painting with a bit of it covered until later, or listening to a part of a song, then listening to the rest later. As a result I have a large backlog of "to-be-watched" DVDs on my shelf. But for the lesser efforts (popcorn flicks, action flicks) I'll watch what I can when I can.
My prob is Rated R language and my kids forcing me to break up viewings. I can only watch when they are at a friends or asleep, and when asleep, I can't fire up the JBLs! Aargh!

I usually manage at least a half-hour. Take that, Groucho...

I have a hard time stopping a movie once I have started it (at least a movie I haven't seen before). I've intended to only watch part of a movie, but I'll end up staying up to finish the movie.
One exception is Me, Myself & Irene. It kept freezing at the same spot in the xbox (our upstairs player) and I haven't been able to get the wife downstairs to finish it. It's been over a week.

Have you thought about getting TV shows on DVD? The half hour shows are usually around 22 mins. without the ads. The hour shows about 45-50 mins.- so you'd only have to say up about a half hour later if you got something like Buffy or Babylon 5.

During the week I don't get a chance to really settle in with a DVD till around 10:30. So I usually watch movies on the weekend when I don't have to get to bed as early. Then during the week I'll go through commentaries and extras. So far it's been working out quite well. Tonight is the Hunter S. Thompson commentary on Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Tomorrow will probably pick up from the point I fall asleep tonight. Friday will be a new movie and next week I'll finish the Fear and Loathing bonus features and whatever is on Friday's disc.

I seem to be doing it more and more now a days. And its not that I dont have the time. But that I seem not to have the same attention span I had 5 years ago. I used to be able to watch 3 in a night. Now I'm lucky to finish one. Maybe movies have just gotten boring?

Never. Usually I watch movie in its entirety, except when the movie is very long and separated into two parts. And recently I began to listen to commentary after watching the movie every night.

I am starting to turn into my dad ::shudder::, whenever we used to rent movies he would fall asleep a half hour into it, I have started to do that myself no matter what time a day it is, no matter what movie it is, I usually wake up some time later before it ends and watch whatever is left, then go back and watch the part I slept during

Unless I have friends over, I usually always break up my movies into a couple nights. Especially on the super long ones. It took me a week to watch Once Upon A Time In America.
I try to watch the extras whenever I can. I pretty much skip all commentaries now. Too many DVD's, too little time.

I generally have to watch a movie all the way through. However I'll often load a disk, turn off the tv, and go to bed with the commentary track playing in the background.
