Was the question ever answered as to whether or not the Alien 3 in the new box would have the theatrical release or just the new release? I've found a place that still [supposedly] has Alien 3 in stock and if the theatrical release is not going to be included (one rumor I heard) I want to try and pick it up now

TIA

Here's hoping.
Haha!

I borrowed the first DVD from my pal and was shocked at how bored I got. I told him I remembered loving this movie but now it seemed so slow.

That said I DO know that they're giving the viewer the option to see one cut or the other (or so I've read)

Anyone know if fincher is having anything to do with the alien 3 update or are they just going off of his notes?

sold!!!
now i have to work harder for November. great!!!
for anyone who love Aliens theatrical cut. it's not just the pacing, but theatrical cut tell story through Ripley point of view so she (and the audience) didn't know what's waiting for her at the planet (can't remember the name). that's why it's effective.

But here is the problem with Aliens Theaterical Cut. It doesn't make sense that there were colonists on LV426 for several years and then all of sudden, when Ripley gets rescued, the Aliens attack the outpost.

It is cleary defined in the Special Edition that Ripley's information led Burke to send the coordinates to the planet to investigate the ship.

I will agree that the theaterical cut makes the first "drop" more exciting, but that advantage really only lasts until the Marines meet the Aliens.

Since I think that the new footage of alien 3 will look like total crap, will the original theatrical version be on the disc.

What about the original Alien? Are the specs still the same as the original release?

I'd like to get this, but Alien 4 is so bad.

Maybe if I look at A4 as a worthless extra in the set, instead of a feature...

Why don't they include the longer cut of Alien Ressurection altogether instead of just the alternate opening/ending? Even if it doesn't change the general opinion people share about this movie, it'd make for something that would at the very least be interesting to watch (even if only once).

Same question as Rypro: will all four feature branching so we can watch the original versions, or only Aliens? If not, I'm going to be mighty unhappy.

I heard that Aliens, Alien 3, and AR will all have different feature options. I read this on darkhorizons.com, but I don't know where they got it.

Why do you think that? Is this based on something or just a guess?

It's good to see a release date for this set. Now, the problem is - I've spent the money that I made on selling off the original set - , but this set definitely will find a place in my collection.

I read something on dvdfile where someone had seen clips of some of the lost/new footage, and most of it looked either decent, or really bad. So unless fox is planning to restore the new footage, this movie could look very uneven.

Yeah, that's been my concern, too. I'm almost expecting something like the awful VHS-quality scenes from Army of Darkness.

still no director's cut of #4?

I was REALLY hoping to get to see the DC of resurrection. Studio sliced off over 20 minutes (near the last 1/3 of the movie) which provided a lot of detail on the new queen...... if they are only having an alternative opening and ending, that is truly disappointing.. #1 is fine with the first pressing, and i will wait for the review of #3 - it could be boring and in poor quality - not a good combo.. as for #2 - I want the theatrical cut, but may want to get this individually - which will save me big $$..

so, bottom line.. not impressed..... yet..

I'd like to know this too. &nbsp It seems they added/changed something for all the movies except "Alien". &nbsp Can anyone confirm that nothing was done to the first film?
