This is good news indeed, but one would think that with all the time available to Paramount they would have been able to compile more than 4 hours worth of features. I was hoping for 2-disc sets for each of the movies a la Star Trek and its sequels. Don't get me wrong, I will be picking these up but I was just hoping for more is all.

...so they can rip you off again when part 4 finally comes out in 2015
Don't even start blaming Lucas and Spielberg for this. They wanted individual released for this, and then a box set including the 4th film. Paramount got what they wanted. Besides, nobody is forcing you to buy a thing. It's always funny when people don't make this same comment for LOTR. They're releasing umpteen versions, plus they'll release a box set at the end. Only Lucas and Spielberg seem to get these type of comments.

but one would think that with all the time available to Paramount they would have been able to compile more than 4 hours worth of features.
Did you ever stop to think that maybe they didn't originally have that much extra material. These films were made 15-20 years ago. They didn't record hours upon hours of bonus footage that they do today.

Man.... November is going to be some month. Along with the LOTR and Matrix flicks in the theaters, this is icing on the movie cake. I bet this will be the biggest selling boxset in no time.

I'm glad but a bit disappointed. I already have some really good sounding LD's in WS. So although the quality may be higher, the lack of DTS and major league features is somewhat of a letdown.

What's the point in the 4th disc. I mean, there's no DTS or commentaries on the other three discs so why not just spread the extras out over those?

Oh wait, that's right, '4 disc set' sells better than '3 disc set'.
Whatever, i'll still definitely be picking this one up.

I got the impression that they're going more the superbit-style route and that's why a 4th disc.

If that's the case, then why no DTS?

Yeah, read this on DavisDVD Sunday (or was it yesterday?). So I knew the "official" announcent would be soon. If you don't already, you should check that site out. Even DVDFile references them a lot!

My feelings exactly. Oh well. I'll still be getting this on release day. Mark another title off the MIA list.

Thank goodness it's finally coming out. The Temple of Doom was my absolute favorite movie as a kid. I must've been 5 or 6 when I saw it and all I can remember saying is "I'm gonna take your heart out!!!"

Don't even bother going that route.

Raiders had 2 making of specials: 2x45=90m
TOD making of special: 50m
LC Making of special: 50m

Take into account the raw footage made for those specials, the deleted scenes (which apparently some are going to be included in the documentary= big from me), EPK's and what ever else they can dig up and you have more than enough footage for 2 disc sets.

Right now they have about an hour for each movie and i'm going to assume that's including the trailer for each film. I know TOD and LC had two each. You do the math.

Don't get me wrong...i'm ELATED to say the least. But I would be lying if I said i wasn't pretty disappointed. Lucasfilm holds on to these films and acts like their the busiest people in the world and then puts out product that doesn't hold up in today's market. That's not a slam on Lucas...that's a slam on the company as a whole.

I am elated that these films are coming out on DVD, but it seems a little strange that on the day that the first Paramount DTS DVD's are released, the one series in their catalog that you would most expect to be released in DTS aren't.

That being said, November can't come soon enough!!!

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the lost ark?!?!?! WTF! Come on - removing guns from the agents in ET wasnt enough, now we get messing around with the title of the second best movie ever made?

Screw that - I'm keeping my laserdiscs.
